i have a 55 wrx, and can't always get the steering lock to engage.

any ideas anyone. about half the time it works first time, the other half the time, i can move the sterring wheel quite a long way - in either direction and it doesn't lock at all

any ideas?

its a maltese import btw

 

My MY00 uk is the same, don't know if it's normal though...

 

So is mine (UK MY00). Wheel will only lock to the left. Also my keys dont stay in the ignition, I can start the car n take them out Its quite a cool security measure actually, so not too bothered about that.

 

mine never seems to lock either but from time to time it does when I dont want it to, typical 97my turbo

 

Why would you want to engage it? Thats not really the idea of them.If your locking it all the time it just puts a bit more stress on the locking mecanism. I thought the idea was that if someone tried to drive it or roll it away the steering would then lock to stop them steering it.
