Default Is my UK Turbo running right?

Hi all

As far as i am aware my car is standard apart from a magnex backbox and i have just had 96 miles from £30 worth of super unleaded petrol.

That is with normal driving and putting my foot down just a few times.

Is this normal or does my car need tuning, setting up etc

Cheers

ANDY

i don't get much more tbh, but that's a 300bhp STI, so i'd say something's a bit amiss. Get the emissions checked to see if you're running rich - possibly lambda?

ummm... let's see...

4.546 litres a gallon
So a gallon will cost 4.50ish - £30/£4.50 is 6 and 2/3 Gallons. 96 miles divided by 6 and 2/3 is 14mpg. So you're actually doing a bit better than me

If it really was combined driving (and not you ragging the **** off it) then it is a bit lower than it should be.

I would say i'd put my foot down about 10 times and that was just short bursts, say 30 seconds or so and the rest is just driving normal.

for example - work and back, fetching the kids from school, shopping etc

Mine takes £45 of Optimax and get around 230ish miles with various driving..

Your figures seems pretty low considering your driving so as TATHs suggested checked.

I second that, your MPG does sound a bit low (even for a Scooby) sounds like your lamda sensor may be on the way out.

i have a new wagon Wrx.

still running it in so <4000revs

i do mostly motorway driving but a lot of 80-100 crusing, but i have traffic queues too

change up between 3000-4000 revs

27mpg (did 270 miles off £45 of Optimax = 10 gallons)

Round town and short journeys you should be getting at the very least 20mpg. 25mpg in town traffic is achiveable if your more conservative with the right foot. To get below 20mpg you'd have to driving it fairly hard

Advise getting the car checked out - emissions test would be a good starting point

04 WRX Wagon 22K on the clock.

Daily commute 100 mile round trip. Some fast driving, some slow and some queueing. £25 Optimax gets me just about 200 miles.

As New scooby says, i reckon u need a new lambda ( oxy sensor) , when on the way out they run rich (and can stay like it for ages).

back on topic, does the Ecu not realise if the oxy sensor is knackered then if it does then i should just be able too pop into garage and let them read any fault codes then.

£25 Optimax in my 02WRX should see me 100 miles if im lucky

because of the way lambdas work, they don't normally stop working. They slowly degrade and read less and less so the ECU 'thinks' the mixtures wandering slowly off.

Thanks for all the replies!

Just spoken the garage and he says it doesnt seem like many miles.

It was only MOT'd last week and he said all the checks they did on computer were all ok,so somethings not right.

Ive just put £20 in this morning so goin to have a normal steady driving on that and see how that does.

Also just rang subaru dealer in newcastle and they said they can have it on computer for £50 to check everything over.

I get about 110 miles to £25 optimax. This is a modded UK turbo and around town. I tend to use the boost in most gears....it's just too addictive

Just when u mention £45 to fill it up, i take it thats a 40ltr Tank? See in all the time ive had my scooby iv never put more than £35 in the tank at a time coz its pretty much only used at weekends. The manual says 60ltr tank but previous owner said 40ltr, which is it likely to be? oh, its a 97UK Turbo. what u drive?
