Question Classic RA vs Newage Spec C RA

Has anyone got or driven both of these?... just wondering is there a huge amount of difference performance wise?...

I drove a RA some years back and it was very quick (with the different ratio's etc and light weight) etc.

From what I can remember the RA seemed a bit frantic (probably because of the ratio's) compared to my Spec C.

Obviously, equal BHP between the 2 then the RA should be quicker in a straight line.... but it's not all about BHP in reality, as the handling in a Spec C should more than make up for any differences in power delivery as a fast road car.

The above is from memory, so others may have differing opinions.

Regards,
Shaun.

Phase 1 or 2 classic RA? Which factory options did it have? Standard or tuned.

Which new age RA? Several different incarnations.

I'd need to know the answers to these questions to tell you the on paper performance differences.

The current spec C RA is entirely different than any of the classics in that it has all the options and these extras

MY 06 Impreza WRX STI Spec C Type RA Limited £29,995 OTR
New Special edition Spec C model:
  • Spec C Type RA Limited
  • Only 350 to be built
  • STI front lipspoiler
  • STI 2-Way Adjustable Suspension
  • Black STI dash finish
  • Alloy Heater *****
  • 17" BBS Alloys
  • STI uprated rollbars
  • Available in WR Blue, White and Silver (Unique to this Spec C)
is more expensive and really only an excersise in badge engineering. The classic RAs (race altered) were built as base cars to be used for motorsport and as such had wind up windows, no air-con etc (although many of these options were added by customers). They were also cheaper and not more expensive.

Apart from the RA monicker, the two cars have nothing in common.
