Youre best leaving it as it is; a VTA dump valve does little beyond make a silly 'look-at-me-noise'. Id stay witht he OEM filter too; but if you must mess about with it you need to retain the airbox and probably fit a Japanese STI filter.

std valve and filter perfectly adequate 9 times out of 10,perhaps a green cotton filter if any?.

When I tried the STi panel filter it deffo stifled my car a little bit.

...what is it with newbies and noisy dump valves just lately?

Was thinking of a Recirculation Dump Valve so I don't sound as if I am 17yrs old in my ESCORT TURBO, just wondered if upgrading it, would it increase my turbo lag without loosing reliability????

Green panel filter. Improved breathing slightly at 5,500rpm+ along with a touch more induction noise. I think it's a worthwhile upgrade. Don't think a dump valve is worth it performance wise.

Edited to add - I used to live in Crowborough, about 7 or 8 years ago, just up from the Crow & Gate pub.

Small world. Some good roads around that way isn't there? Used to love the drive between Crowborough and Tunbridge Wells. Nice dual carriage way section (watching out for police in that lay by) and then you go through that 40 before a nice sweeping couple of bends and then another long straight into TW.

Is that awful night club still open in Crowborough along the high street?

Yep, went in there last night, came out so drunk, was chewing the curbs all the way home.

There is some awesome roads here, but they have cut the top half of the bypass out due to loads of crashes, but still got a good run on the way up the otherside.

Yeah I used to have a few in the Cross and ended up in there a couple of times.

That's a shame about them cutting the top of dual carriage way off! My mates and I used to use that stretch of road as a performance test. Start at 60 at the bottom in the dip and see what you can hit before coming into the 50 at the top! Had some good races up there.

Come along to the West Sussex meet if you get chance. Always good to know a few other Scooby owners.

That was this month's Sussex meet that I didn't actually make it to unfortunately. Crawley is about 15 miles from you so not too bad. If your going to modify your car it's worth coming along to the various meets and events. Good advice to be had and so on - more goes on and the turn outs are generally better during the Summer though.

I've got a 2001 WRX with the odd modification here and there .

Ben.

Silver is the best colour isn't it .

As for the fuel pump, you might get slightly better throttle response or something, but fitting an uprated unit is usually only done in preparation for a remap.

Keep an eye on the events section, but I'll PM you about that Sussex meet closer the time.

Not unless you get to a state of tune that pushes the original one to the limit.
