Default Selling your scooby

Where in your opinion or how is the best place/way to sell your scooby (boo-hoo) ? I know it will always attract idiots, especially the penniless types, but how can you shorten the odds or is it a case of grin and bear it. I am putting my STI V7 Wagon up for sale but i'm not sure where best to put it. I just don't want those annoying penniless, you seem to get when selling an impreza.

Scoobies do not seem to be selling anywhere at the moment..unless its for dirt cheap...I know coz im trying to sell mine.

Idealy you would advertise everywhere, so that every one see the carm and you will always get the occasional iddiot....

Ebay is a good place if you want people around the world to look at your car, you may get lucky..my cars on there and in 6 days 600 people have viewed the car...allot more then here on Scoobynet.

Good luck with the sale...

Hi,

I'm in the same boat, If could sell mine, I'd buy yours tommorrow

Wanted it since the first pics you sent me way back. Theres only about 3 of yours in the country I believe is that correct ?

I'm happy with my wrx, just gutted they stopped making the wagon at the v7 as always wanted one ... its a crime

I think we should petition for the return of the STI Wagon

Just sold mine yesterday, 2005 Sti type uk with 1k miles - had advertised in autotrader & top marques for 6 weeks - not even 1 phone call. Advertised on scoobynet & sold to a member.

Ive had 5 calls since offering me more money than i got, but i suppose a bird in the hand and all that....

My own supplying dealer offered to buy it back for 16500, Ba**ard!!

Good luck mate, Im never having another thats my 4th & reckon the residuals are too poor cos of the ever changing specs.

Thanks, the only problem i have i suppose is pricing it right, especially as it is so rare. Mind you whoever buys it is getting one hell of a motor,

I may have a go at that, what sort of starting price should i start at?Oh and by the way the car is mint, no stone chips or scratches and it has got a TSL 333 on it, and as graham at TSL said, it is the best wagon he has seen/driven in a very long time.

i started mine at 99 pence
Personally,i think silly starting prices and "reserve not met" popping up after every bid puts people off,i would start it low, discribe as acurate as poss, just put in the discription that the car is advertised elsewhere and you reserve the right to end auction early,so if the car is no where near a "suitable amount" just pull the listing

It's an enthusiast's car, so sell to enthusiasts. I've bought and sold a few different motors over the years, and ebay's good for getting hits, but you'll find you either sell for less than you want, or don't sell at all. I had a VW Scirocco 1800 on there for £400 or so last year, lovely motor it was, and obviously a specialist kind of motor, got something like 2500 hits, but was there anyone willing to make a decent bid? No. Same with my turbocharged Clio that I just sold a few months back - no luck on ebay and in the end it went to a friend off the Cliosport forum. When I bought my WRX wagon, I gave ebay a miss and came straight on here. Found exactly what I wanted, it looked good, we went to look at it and bought it there and then.

I'd say the only thing with buying from enthusiasts is that they almost always seem to overvalue their cars. You get all the forum members patting each other on the back in the for sale thread and saying 'yeah if only I had the money I'd have it myself', 'someone's bound to buy it soon', 'hold out for more money' etc, but at the end of the day the only real action you get on the thread is the dreaded 'bttt'

Maybe I'm mistaken but some of the prices I remember seeing for 'mint' cars would have had traders splitting their sides at the over-valuations. People who drive crappy cars aren't so precious about their motors and value them according to what others will pay, not what they think it owes them LOL

But I'm happy with my wagon and what I paid for it.
