PPP does not give 330 bhp and it is not 4k for PPP. Only had a quick read but alarm bells are already ringing.

Good luck.

Looks like someone has put a few STI (and other aftermarket) bits on a WRX to tart it up, it's not an STI engine for starters.

deffo a tarted wrx

my mate went to see an sti advertised on autotrader. Whene he arrived he soon realised it was the same as this car a wrx with sti bits on it.

it didn't have sti interior though so he bought a set.

guess what ? the door cards didn't fit as the electric window switches are different. if you look at the pics on that car it still has the wrx door cards. they should be blue alcantara like the seats !

Hey Paul

At the end of the day you have got a very cheap car there - it won't be pushing out 330bhp - probably more like 260bhp - but it will still fly and for that money you have got what seems like a bargain - especially with the prodrive brakes.

Just get it inspected professionally and HPI checked before you pay for it.

Cheers

Terry

to be fair it does say a WRX across the top...........................and although the wording is poor it says "STi spec"...............

most of its '04 STi seats, clocks, etc............

presumably his 4K prodrive pack means the Alcon brakes, spoiler & suspension as well as the PPP engine kit??

as above get a pukka inspection or take someone that knows what they are looking at!!

that cars too cheap! it would worry me that hes lying about so much, have the car checked over by a qualified mechanic, and definatly get an hpi check done.

looks nice, shame about the bull**** that hes used.

^^ yep 32k my ****!

i'd be very wary - and buying a car off ebay from a zero feedbacker is foolish.

hope all turns out well, but i would never buy a car off ebay, which i hadn't viewed before i put in a bid.

"This is a UK Scooby not an import so it will be cheaper on the insurance"

hope all is ok with the purchase.

if you check the reg on rac it does show as a wrx. risk some neg feedback on e-bay by checking it all over 100% before you hand your money over. engine bay appears to be dbm from the slam panel backwards? i haven't owned a bug eye / new age so not sure if this is normal or not that the engine bay is a different colour to the body work. i know that this is the case on other makes. my classic is all one colour though.

i think for the 4k quote about the ppp he's included the cost of the wheels, brakes spoiler etc as individual items rather than the factory package.

looks like a nice motor though with no need to pay out to modify anything.

If the car is not as described, then you are not legally obliged to go through with the purchase if you dont want to.

Looks ok to me however, and a fair price too.

Hmm. How to detail to insurance company?
I note steering wheel has no airbag. How do insurance companies react to this?
Especially if you have a situation where one, if fitted, would have deployed.
Plus has the airbag system been sorted to allow for this?
Likewise if original front seats had been airbag type.
Not a not recorded stolen recovered is it?
Ie, stolen and some bits stripped.

Seems cheap, but a wrx with STi parts, and a mismatch of that. Get it checked over. Wander what the original mileage is? And how you'll get insurance for all that lot bolted on. If it's not straight or you're not happy, surely you can walkaway knowing that is has been mis-advertised...?

The advert doesn't say its an STi..... its an STi Spec WRX. The advert description isn't lying at all, apart from some price and bhp errors.. The only thing I would worry about is the fact the user has 0 feedback, but you can go and have a look, what have you got to lose, if its cr@p walk away, if its good, then you have got a decent motor for a decent price. An X reg WRX isn't worth much these days, so with the extras, the price is about right.

I didn't say it was lying, i said it was mis-advertised. And quoting wrong prices and wrong bhp quantifies that.

Photographed just down the road from me in a Bistro car park. As already mentioned, PPP isnt worth £4000 and it doesnt give 330 bhp. On the plus side, Woodseats is a nice area, you could have bought it from Wybourne after all!

By the way, youve paid £60 more than the 'Buy it Now' price.....

It does lie, It say's the car has 'FULL STi Spec' which it clearly is NOT.
Not an STi engine, gearbox, diffs, ie the bits that really cost. So it is not an 'STi Spec WRX'.

I would not touch it with a barge pole. Their is a serious risk that this car is a bodged up mix. Would be happier if the seller knew what he was talking about, but this looks too dodgy to risk.

If you still want to go ahead, check the VIN plate looks unmolested and check it with the stamped in number. As why its described as an STi spec, and ask where the WRX clock is.

Lets face it, dodgy cars are rife.

The cross member in the engine pic certainly looks like a replacement. Check very carefully for front end damage repair and HPI it for CAT C/D.

If you are uncertain about the car in any way, then Id advise you to contact Jeff or Dean at the Sheffield Subaru Service Centre. They will be able to find anthing thats wrong with it for the cost of one hours labour (virtually f*ck-all...)

My WR blue mica 2002 WRX also has a DBM colour engine bay and all bugeye's are like that....I guess it saves money on paint !!

The rear spoiler is not an OEM item by the way as it has the brake light in the wrong place.

I'd have it carefully inspected

Looks as if you've got a lot of car for your money. its a very nice modded UK turbo. I wouldnt of expected it to be a STI looking at the advert (Its very clear in the title).

Just get it checked over and have the mileage guaranteed via HPI/AA Check etc. Look at service history too.

I wouldnt be too worried

The missing airbag steering wheel is a big clue there, along with the different headlamps I suppose... The vehicles HPI status hasnt been disclosed, so that alone is good reason to abandon the transaction.

I've seen this car parked up, as GC8 said - In Woodseats over the last few weeks. Was wondering if maybe one of the owners of the now closed (well the shop is) Custom FX car mods company??

Looked in good condition to me

Well there you go. What a star silver knight, dont you love scoobynet.

Now you know its history, you can make an informed choice, but find out where the car was rebuilt and go and visit it if you can. Many places love to bodge up cat D/C's and charge over the odds for something that looks cosmetically good.

Edited to correct my pathetic spelling
