Angry Nurburgring Virgin

Just got back from a fantastic trip to the 'ring, here's the juicy bit...

Oh, and all pictures etc. were taken by someone else, it's not me driving, or my car, or anything, honest!

Take one ring noob (and non-race driver) and one cold, wet, foggy, miserable day:

Add one lovely sweeping bend (lap 1) with a good run-off area (unlike most of the track) - note these pictures were taken the day after; sadly I didn't have the camera running on day one, apart from the above shot.

A corner which just keeps coming...

Until a nasty bridge takes your attention....

You're off-line, and it all goes wrong!

Result? 360 degrees, up on the grass, look around a bit, and off we go again!

No more laps until it dries up!

Really must make a trip over there myself! How would it cost for travel to and from a day at the ring? I live about 50 miles from Dover, near Maidstone in Kent.

I don't think you can do it for £500....unless you dont do any laps.

I reckon this is pretty accurate for 12 laps

Ferry £100
Petrol to get there and back 800 miles (est home to dover 100 miles) £120
B&B for 3 nights £100
Food and Beer £100

So £400 to get there and stay......

Lap ticket £100 for 12
Petrol for laps £80

And £200 for every 12 laps.

Ok £580 for a 12 lap weekend, more than enough laps for a newbie

I'd advise getting the channel tunnel rather than the ferry; used it for the first time on that trip and it's really good; 35 minutes plus some hanging around.

I always use SpeedFerries from Dover, rates vary from £50-60 return and very good service. Used them 4 times this year.

I'll be going back there sometime in the spring all being well.

Ferry sounds like it's nearly half the price - how long does it take?

Why dont you pop over to http://s8.invisionfree.com/Northloop/index.php we have a fair bit of information on there and loads of regulars who can answer any questions.

Plenty of videos too.

There's a cafe at the start; sell beer and food too. I'm sure she'd love a day there!
