Default DIY alloy refurb

MY97 UK turbo, Dark Blue, with 17" Gold wheels. Thinking of spraying them black as i reckon it will look quite "stealth". Anyone had a go at this themselves? I was wondering if u would only have to sand off the top coat of paint, providing the wheels are in good enough condition(I.e not kerbed)
I reckon a proffesional job might be a little steep £££££££

Appreciate any reply.

Depends on what you call steep.
£150-200 max for a pro job.
Saves a lot of time and elbow grease.................

i tend to do mine, but then i have access to a bead blaster, spraying is the easy part mate. so long as you take your time, lots of thin even coats [i do 4] then some coats of laquer, if you have small curb marks, get some nu-metal, halfords sell it. deep ones i machine out, take your time, thats the key

cheers

Where can it be done that cheap mate? the prices I've seen are £50 - £60 per wheel so £200 - £240 odd..

I've done two sets myself in the past You just need to key them up and use "etch" primer on the parts of the wheel that the alloy is showing. You can refurb a set yourself just as good for around £40
