Tall (lanky) drivers
Being a lanky sort i'm having a bit of grief with my Bugeye and the driving position.
I find the steering wheel is too big and doesn't adjust high enough for a good driving position. If I lower the seat too much it ends up reclined so i'm like a monkey riding a bike.
Apart from fitting an STi wheel has anyone else got some tips on getting a good driving position sorted. I don't mind the relaxed laid back cruiser posture on the motorway but on the twisties and in town when I sit more upright I find my right leg touches the steering wheel.
Help!!
p.s. Sarcastic replies fully expected

Im 6' 3" and the only cars that Ive ever been able to feel really comfortable in have been Porsche 944/968s and especially a 924. My Impreza isnt bad really; especially compared to my first car which was a Lancia, designed for a gibbon.

I have lowered the seat but if I have it too low the backrest tilts too far and can't be adjusted upright enough again.
Maybe i'm just a fussy bugger
The main problem I reckon is the size of the steering wheel, might have to go for an Sti one if it continues to bug me...
PowerJunkie - i've been out and tried your setting, seems a little strange but there is loads more room at the wheel. Could be onto a winner if I can get used to it

im 6'2" and have my seat slid all the way back, jacked up 2 pumps, quite upright + steering wheel is set so when i look at it, the top of the wheel follows the top of the dash.
if you are tall then whatever you do don't have a wrx sl. i test drove one + it has a sunroof which looses you a couple of inches of headroom. go over the smallest bump + your head hits the roof!

Im 6'5" and i fit in ok. Not as much room as my old A4 but im comfy enough. Cant understand how your chair dosent go upright enough even when the base is low as if i put the backrest as upright as it goes i feel like im contorted. Maybe there isnt enough adjustment in your chair for some reason i.e it has a fault. My chair is nowhere near its most upright setting but still nothing like reclined. It has more than enough adjustment in each direction than i will ever use. Maybe it wouldnt hurt to get it checked out.

Im 6ft 4" and i have sat in my dads 03 WRX and its a little crampt, but the new 06 WRX on the TEST DRIVE stand that i tried @ MPH was a lot better, more room.
As i have not got a scoob, my 97 mk3 Astra is very crampt even with the Cav GSi bucket seats are as far back as they will do and the back of the seat tilted back a little. I can't get my knees past the wheel for like cluch or switching from brake to throttle. so i have to put my legs in at an angle, which is very uncomfortable. So when i take my car into service, im gonna ask if they can re bolt my seat back aninch or two.

p.s. i put a post on this in NCR about tall drivers. most of the reply from people over 6ft found the scooby (new age) to be ok.

I'm 6'6" and have a 53 reg STI and find it very comfortable, certainly a lot better than the Lexus IS200 I had before it (not having a sun roof helps a lot). Mind you, I even find our other car (an MR2 Roadster) comfortable and people smaller than me seem to struggle to get a good driving position in those.
The most comfortable car I've ever had was my first, a Fiat Tipo. It was literally huge, and the only car I've ever driven where my legs really fitted comfortably below the steering wheel and I had considerable space above my head too. Shame about the electrics though...

well im 6'2" and i find the scoob just about big enough, my only crtisism if that the steering tube should be longer so i dont have to stretch my arms as far. (my seat is on the very back and slightly reclined)

6'3", seat back & a smidgen off upright ... find it very comfortable (MY03 STi Type UK)
Mind you with the seat back I wouldn't want to be a passenger in the rear, it's on a par with most 2+2 glorified parcel shelves

I'm 6'4" and find my bugeye fine with the seat all the way down and in the most upright position. Agree about the steering wheel though, it could be a bit smaller.
I had a supra TT for a while, and found I had terrible back ache after driving it because I couldnt quite sit upright in it. That was one of the reasons I went back to the Scooby!
