Default Would I be daft if............

I've seen the perfect car for me, 2000/X, Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000, UK car, 1 owner, FSSH, cambelts recently changed, Mica Blue metallic, aircon, you get my drift.

This car has been meticulously maintained with every receipt since new and a spotless history, but, and it's a big but...............150,000 miles.

Realistically, no matter how good an engine is and has been looked after, should there be plenty of life left in it?!

Price tag is £5000 from a dealer with 3 months warranty. Advice would be great please!! Cheers.

all comes down to personal opinion...mine would be that the mileage would scare me so much I wouldn't sleep. And at 5k it's a little over priced IMO. Couple more grand and you are looking at an v/w/x plate with 60k ish on the clock.

I know 'some cars' are designed for that kind of mileage ie the mondeo/vectra/3 series/a4 rep mobile types but scoobys are not in that bracket.

Like I say, each to their own, just wouldn't be my cup of char.

that kind of mileage should scare anyone

I suppose it could run fine for ages, but for piece of mind I would look elsewhere. The market is flooded and it's obviously a buyers market - there will be plenty more.

To be honest mate, the price is too high for a car with 150,000 on the clock. I've seen cars with half that milage going for not much more. It's getting to the kind of milage where you wouldn't feel too cheated if it needed a rebuild even it'd been well looked after.

I would def be put off with that mileage..

Even if the engine is perfect and well looked after at that kinda mileage i'm sure there is a lot of the chassis is getting near its replacement time....

Again its each to their own but just my opinion.....

Good luck anyway...

I have just bought a MY99 V for £7,800 with only 31,000 miles on it.....had the odd shopping dent and a scratch on the bumper but I couldn;t let it go with those miles on it.....

Had it a week now and still feels like new. Everything is very tight.

I had looked at a couple for the same sort of money but with 60-70k on the clock.....this still scared me as I do maybe 20K per year.

Remember, its not just the drivetrain that suffers with the mileage. Suspension bushes, ball joints, brake calipers / discs, steering rack, joints.

Its amazing how all the little bits cost to rectify. Not a problem on a banger, you just live with them, but in a performance car ?, sloppy handling would ruin the experience.
