Don't worry chaps .............. I haven't done it yet - just preparing myself for when the backbox gives up.
I am amazed at the longevity of these cars, the brakes are still original at 63,000miles, the exhaust is 5 1/2 years old, so is the battery, the 2nd set of tyres are showing signs of wear now .......... only the sidelight bulbs have needed replacing in the electrics department.
But, things should wear out sooner or later????

I was thinking more in the £50 area!!
I can afford it, it's whether I want to or not!!
I do assume for the £323 it comes complete with centre section, CAT and downpipe??
Anyone know how much a Subaru exhaust system is??
BTW a decent semi in Middlesbrough cost £325 in 1960!!!

You could look on eBay Peter. Hayward & Scott products are particularly well made and as a result of this they ;ast well. You should be able to buy a rear box; probably a proper ScoobySport one, for not too much over your inadequate budget.

Just buy a std one off someone in here. There will be loads hanging around in peoples sheds etc.
Mine for example has done 200 miles and has been in the shed ever since. I would bite your hand off for £50, but I don't think the post would be easy Maybe get someone nearer.

You could always go down the Powerflow route, get them to make you up a new back box, and opt for twin round tailpipes, you can make it as loud or as quiet as you want it then, being stainless steel, should last the car out. Not sure 100% on prices, but I got quoted £260 for a complete centre section and back box for a new age WRX.
