Default 12 mpg HELP!

HELP!

Over the last couple of weeks we've noticed the Scoob has got petrolism.
Although its cold and the traffic has been heavy is it usual for Scoobs to average 10 to 12 miles per gallon. It was getting approx 19mpg before.

It only travels 4 miles a day mostly in a max of 3rd gear. Definately gone worse in last couple of weeks though.

The conditions you describe are about the worst you could get for fuel consumption in any car. Or have you recently changed your footwear for something more substantial recently giving you a heavier right foot....
Any smoke from the exhaust other than normal steam?

No smoke and can't afford new footwear at this rate.

think yourself lucky!

12mpg on 4 miles a day is a lot better than 24-28mpg on 70 miles a day. (£250 a month just getting to work)

Doesnt sound unreasonable for the sort of journey you describe. Also the cold weather means it'll stay on the chock a lot longer, so use more fuel.

If things get really chilly (as predicted) you might be looking at single figures!

Thanks for that. I'm dead happy now. I wonder if this is why some garage their cars over winter and pretend its to conserve the bodywork etc.
