downside is the chassis has 2 rust spots by the rear window, (cant see unless ur up close, and the chassis has done 140k but seeing as its a fresh rebult engine u with all new gear around it u cant tell
only thing it needs is a pas pump as its packed up (common fault so i'm told on these scoobs)

The car is currently running standard boost but all is required is a remap and the new turbo fitted and it will make a easy near 400bhp motor.
Full Spec-R chrome parts, Coolent tank, washer tank, battery cover, fuse cover etc.
Alloy strut brace
Suspension,
Full Avo Coilover set up,

Why would it need an hybrid turbocharger? Even if that ramshackle specification required it or had a hope of achieving 400bhp then Andy Forrest would charge £500 exchange for a suitable turbo. The car sounds like a ignorantly messed-with dogs dinner to me and I wouldnt pay half of the asking price. Of course, I wouldnt f*ck about in McDonalds carpark either so I might not be credible.....

You could get a 1994 Impreza Turbo for £2000 and then spend £2000 doing what YOU want to do!!
That car above looks like a Chavvie Bodge-Job to be honest

That white one looks nice I must say ...................
Personally I hate Gold Wheels and White cars are not the best.
You MUST get an Insurance quote with the Mods. fitted FIRST!! Not sure how old you are but you could easily be looking at £1000+
Is it just me, or is £4000 expensive for a 1994 Impreza????
My 2000 'W' plate I would have said was only worth around £6500?? thats not fooked about with, in blue and one owner!! ............

I understand that the Pig Ugly Bug Eyes ( PUBEs ) are horrendous and deserve to be in the Bargain bucket ................ but, the last of the Classics offer so much more than the early cars

They are only about £6000 generally.
You have £4000 to spend on a car - £3000 for Insurance.
My advice would be to buy a Model Year 2000 standard UK spec. for £6000 and spend £1000 on Insurance.
Then take a year to locate the mods you want and fit them when you want - get it insured then with mods. and avoid buying someones 'dogs dinner'

I don't know where this MY00 for 6k comes from to be honest. If you look on Autotrader etc a good condition, average or low mileage one ranges from about £8-9.5k based on spec and condition. A MY00 for £6k would be very high mileage or thrashed I'd expect.

The 99/00 classic is the same as the 97/98 though isnt it ? ( the second facelift model IIRC MY97 so would be an early S plate onwards - best looking and didnt get loads of weight added like the bugeye ).
If you shop around you can get a good ( not stupid mileage, not thrashed, not 'modded' in someones garage ) for £5 - £6K this time of year - may well find one that already has a decat exhaust and some sensible mods fitted.
Lower insurance than the imports, similar power to early imports, and you wont be buying something that has a gearbox, bodywork, interior and suspension etc... that has done 140K miles.
You need to remember when buying - mods dont add anyting to the value of the car - they may make it easier to sell, but a £5K car with £5K of mods isnt worth £10K, its worth £5K ! ( or maybe £6K if the seller finds a buyer who wants those specific mods on the car ).

This does raise one interesting point as well - all these people who say you can buy Imprezas for £2 or £3 K now - true, you can, but you cant buy a good one, if you really want a really old knackered car that is going to cost you more in repairs thanj it cost to buy, then your luck is in.
For people who only have £3K to spend I think they'd be much better off looking at other models.
I would say ( and I'm willing to be shot down here ) you'd really struggle to get a decent UK Impreza - that isnt likely to blow up or need major work within a year for under £5000 ( and say not that much less for an earlier import ). Odd ones do come up privately, but I havent much around even this time of year which is the cheapest for buying.

True, it sickens me really. I've had 3 WRX's so i know what i'm talking about when it comes to the charade of selling them. I'm utterly pissed of that i have car i'm trying to sell that owes me over 6k and having had it 3 months, that is very clean: and the amount of ********* that say to me "my mate got one for 3.5 grand the other week", or questioning the price relative to the reg' number. The ones i've seen that have been described as immaculate etc that have been bought in that low price range have very worn seats and interiors, non-immaculate paint, and goodness knows what the engine's like, with the engine bay as balck as that. They're mad to buy such **** cars especially with the cost of engine rebuilds etc. I've never been to see one that cheap with a view to buying because i'm not that much of a tight-***!
