Question

Can anybody please help? I have a 98 Sti IV and would like to know if there is any decent establishment where I can get my car serviced in this area. It would be good to find a place with experienced techs with the correct equipment. I have tried Power Eng. but it is too far for convenience

Hi...

I am also from Dorset. When I first got my car (18 months or so ago), I phoned around for ages trying to find somewhere local(ish) to service my car (Jap import...MY96 WRX). However, the places I did phone seemed not too interested in my business and didn't seem to have any idea about what was required at certain services... and these were places that promote themselves as import servicers (including Subarus)...

In the end I took the car to Scoobysport... long journey I know, but well worth it. They have serviced my car ever since, and will (hopefully!) continue to do so.

I don't know if the localish "import servicers" have become more knowledgable since then, but I would say it's definitely worth the travel to get a top quality service from a decent company that really knows their stuff.

Good luck in your search if you want to stick to this area though... hopefully you'll have better results than I did.

Hi,

Ive got a WRX and have used Hughes in Poole. I've only had the first service done with them so cant comment on their work. They used to import Scooby's and consequently service quite a few of them.

Someone on this board werent to impressed with their attitude (might have even been RichB) but I thought they were friendly enough. In fact, when I was waiting for my car to come into the country I actually went to visit them to ask them a few things about SVAs and stuff. They were quite helpful even though they were still selling them. They even gave me the SVA application form.

Thanks for the help chaps. Rich mentioned about a new place opened in Poole called Eclipse (tel 01202 580011) Apparently they are ex Ford Motorsport techs and will also do Subarus. They will have a rolling road etc. Might be worth considering once they are established.

Yeah I spoke to Eclipse also, they reckon that Chapelgate refer STI owners to them, perhaps it is worth calling Chapelgate to confirm this.
Cheers

Question

So now all the southerners are in one place how's about you organise a meet? Rich and I have spoken to Eclipse and they've offered a discount on a Rolling Road session if we get 10 cars together.
Cheers

Yep, I spoke to Eclipse recently also. They seem pretty friendly. At the time they didnt have the rolling road but that probably two months ago and it may have arrived. (Does anyone else have a vision of a rolling road rolling its way down the road and park itself on the road so cars can roll on it ? )

Well then! I wouldn't arrange anything until after someone has checked out the new Rolling road at Eclipse. We want to make sure that they have adequate fans and an idea of how to set up the rollers!

Hi All you fellow Dorset Scooby owners.
Count me in if you arrange a meet,I'd been thinking of arranging something myself, but as ever it's alway's easier if someone else does it.
Happy Scooby-ing.

Sorry, I forgot what the original question was,
James, I will probably be seeing a friend tomorrow who told me about a place in Wincanton if you're interested.

If I`m not working then I would love to see the power figures of my car on another rolling road , so put my name down .
Chuck I thought your 22b didn`t like rolling roads after the go at Powerstation ?

There is also Regal Autosport in Southampton.
They can service and mod Subarus.
I have used them a few time for modifing my last car - a Rover 200, and they were quite good.

Yeah, thanks Dave , the 22b didn't like life at all and seemed to be heading to an early warranty claim. Millers seems to have stopped the knock though.
Cheers

Didn't see the Diablo's then, but did see them about 1 and a half months ago - along with a Countach. Maybe it's a regular thing??

Anyway, whats happening about this meet then????

Kelvin

PS. Saw a P1 in Muscliffe (near the new Primary School) on Sunday - flashed lights but who was it??????

I went out to Eclipse yesterday but they don't have the RR yet! They say it will be in by the end of this month.

I hope they don't turn out to be muppets!

I don't mind trying to organise something with Eclipse but we need to see what facilities they will have, how good it is and realistically how many cars we can do in a day/afternoon.

Unless anyone else wants to volunteer and organise something anyway??? Kelvin?

Exclamation

I don't mind looking into a few things. If I find anything reasonable / come up with any good ideas I'll put them on the Southern notice board and see what the response is like.

Kelvin.

PS If anyone else has any good ideas - e-mail me @ kelvinpapp@hotmail.com! (never done anything like this before so help would be appreciated!!!)
