Default Forester body check £128

Have just been quoted £128 for the first annual anti rust check on a Forester 2 litre - It's never been off road so this seems OTT - can't think of any other manufacturers who get up to this trickery.

Does anyone have similar experience ?

It's a rip off m8.
Better off giving your car a loving waxoyl next summer if you feel the need.
Even this years 'free servicing' deals on new wrx's didnt include the 'bodywork service' cos very few customers get it done, on the advice of the dealers. Yes my dealer said don't bother m8 save your money!

But pete, your bodywork warranty will be invalid! Heavens above, do you realise the implications of what you're suggesting? Might as well have bought in import...

Try another dealer. KTGreen's charged me about 40 quid to inject bits of something like waxoyl into the vulnerable parts. Er, of the car, that is.

Yes, but yours .... being an inferior Import needed some protection or it will be a nice brown flaky colour in a year or two

Keep with the times, pete... The 00 was a dutch import and, surprise surprise, it came with underseal on it! Believe it or not, they put it on in the factory. 40 quid I could stomach at the first year service, so I had it done. It's still going strong from what I hear. The 03 was a uk car, and being frank there was sod all difference in the underseal applied to that.

I am surprised that someone with your status is advising people to forgo their anti-corrosion warranty - some people look to you as a (grand)father figure, so you really ought to be careful with what you say.

*cough*

When I wanted my 03 WRX doing I contacted 3 (s)dealers. 1st was £125+vat 2nd £100+vat and then KT Greens (where Chiark went) was £40+vat As Chiark said, it came back with brown stuff seaping out of many orrifaces so it had definately been done. For £40 (£48 inc vat ) I will probably keep up to it and the next is due in Jan 06. Even though the car is for sale I will probably end up having to get this done as it is easier selling week old turds than Scooby's

Ian Grieve Subaru (near Falkirk) say they will do the first annual body inspection for the Forester as part of the annual service with no extra charge for this !

So, Nobles Subaru (Penicuik), "thankyou for your quote of £128 but I think it's better in my pocket than yours !! "

Incidentally - just got 10,000 miles service for my WRX wagon today at Ian Grieve Subaru - very pleased with the service provided - total cost £141 and this included the annual body inspection too !

I asked them their position with regards warranties on cars from Motorpoint etc and they said they would have no problem doing any work but they would have to get the OK from the originating Subaru dealer (Liaco Malta in my case) and they would bill them. So looks like Ian Grieve Subaru are playing fair on this !
