Default FIRE!?

Hello,

i was just wondering, ive seen pictures of scoobys and other high performance cars with flames flying out of the exhaust, how and why does this happen? is it just coz its highly tuned or do they have some sort of ignition in the exhaust?

Thanks
Marc

you can buy a flame kit for your car, consists of:

Coil pack
ht lead
sparkplug
relay
switch
wire 12V battery
wire earth
I dont have one but my scoob sometimes flames when driving it hard.

If it's a Triumph GT6 cats weren't invented then...........my 2 litre Vitesse MkII (same car mechanically) had a SAH 6/2/1 manifold and straight through exhaust. It too would shoot flames out of the tailpipes on the overrun.

Mine pops blue rings out the exhaust with the cat on which hasent appeared to do any damage.

Shoots nice big flames without the cat on though

Basically it's unburnt fuel exploding in the exhaust system. Shouldn't happen on most cars, especially new ones with cats etc.

Other than that, you can get "flamer" kits for those that are a bit childish.
