but i think i know why the mods have not allowed avatars or signatures, as this would make the forum messey and cluttered. plus halh the time poeple would be commenting on them and messing about with them rather than just talk shop.

Then we would be able to reconise people more easily if we had them.
This forum looks like its a 1999 webring in the backend of nowhere sometimes.

The reason that there are no avatars and graphical sigs is that it would slow things down even more than they already are, and right now, this thing is as quick as a dead horse!

Dunno, haven't tried it with any other browser.
BTW, for those moaning that avatars would slow the site down, they wouldn't as long as they only allow avatars to be hosted off-site. And if you don't like them, you can turn them off. I like avatars personally, gives a more personal feel, IMHO

It seems to be that firefox is to blame for displaying the line underneath.
Runs fine in IE
Its supposed to be the underlining for the users name, but it seems have dropped slightly so looks like "Scooby Regular" is crossed out.

Hang on a moment. You chaps are not talking about the new default style? The one which does not have the alternating background colors for odd/even posts? The one which makes it look very cheap and nasty compared to how it used to look, let alone how other forums look, and how this one should look, given it's meant to be a professionally run forum?

right, ok so i have had 5 mins playing with the new look and not happy
* 1. the preview has nor come back and that, reading other ppl's posts, was one of the best features. how many times on other forums, have you hovered over the thread titles to see a quick preview, see if its of interest and then click. This is a big loss and should be reinstated.
* 2.Drop down menu at the bottom. I know corrodoboy has given some alternative suggestions, but as i didnt use it that much no big loss, but i can see how it was useful and was thinking of using it more (now it was pointed out to me )
*3. Plus members had the ability to turn off goodle adsense. but its still there at the blooming bottom not happy. Please fix that.
*4. The extra lines in each post is nice and clean and the overall look is much better, but the extra lines/spacing just means that the page length is longer and more scrolling. well IMHO
* 5. the overall speed is much appreciated so something has improved, dunno whether the speed increase is down to time of day (i.e most ppl are at home) or down the fact that we have lost some useful bits, whcih might have been slowing it down. i am sure over the next few days we will be enlightened to what was needed to change to see the benefits but for now simon, i am afraid the jury is definately out !!!

guys
We're only about 1/3 of the way there. This is not the end result. We're still in testing, and the asthetics are purely due to the upgrade to the newest version, plus a few tweaks.
