Question

Had my car for 6 months now and was just reading the warranty/service booklet to check dates etc.

Horror of horrors I was reading about the 6-year warranty on the bodywork ... subject to the terms and contitions below ... blah blah blah ---- horror because term 1 is .... purchaser has sent in the registration card within 30 days!!!!! well, knock me down with an EVO6 - I didnt damn well know?? and didnt of course - where do I stand?? in the dog pooh??

Also .... how much does a bodywork check cost? has anyone had it done? has anyone forgot the registration card? has anyone failed to get warranty work because the card was not sent in??

HHHHH EEEEEE LLLLLL PPPPPP !!!!!

When I picked my Impreza up, I couldn't find the registration card. I phoned up the dealer and he told me that it was all registered by computer and I didn't need to fill in a card.

Just phone up your dealer and ask him to confirm this.

Hope this helps,

Paul

I believe they carry out a bodywork check as part of the 15000 mile service. Can't remember the exact amount, but I think its about £80 - but seeing as you will be doing this yourself - why worry?

While your dealer could carry out the first year bodywork inspection while in for its 15,000 service, the other requirement you must remember is that the inspection MUST be performed within 30days of the 1st anniversary of the cars registration (before or after)

I sent my card off, but I never heard anything from Subaru. Does anyone know the number to call to check if the warranty has been transferred?

I've just checked my handbook and there is no sign of any registration card thingy.
Can I asume that the dutch garage or importer (Auto Tecnica) have sent it off for me?
Auto Tecnica did register the car with IM (?) for me before I picked it up.
I had no problems when I took the car in for it's 1K service.

Any ideas?

Just booked mine in for 15000 service and body service. Quoted £51 for bodywork and they will put whatever date you need in the service book. It should be within 30 days either date of anniversary.

I was told you didn't need to fill out the form initially as this was done automatically on the computer.

Hey Mr Harvey I would like to know what the garage did to your car for £51?? Surely any damage is your fault?

I think you'll find that the paintwork is only covered for 1 year anyway! So any stone chips, DMB type problems etc aren't covered the full term. The 6 years refers to chassis and and major structural stuff. The drivetrain is also not covered for three years, only two. A 3 year warranty is seldom what it seems!

Well thanks to all - and all those helpful souls who think I can do anything - you have just confirmed my suspicions that I am indeed .......... great

£51 seems a bargain actually when you read that they need to re-seal certain areas and such like - now THAT may be value ( £100 for an oil change and filter is NOT!!)

Question

Sunilp,

What cover do I get on a euro import? Should I bother with the paint / body check at servicing?

Cheers
