Default mullered car in snow...possibly half shaft

I have a 53 plate sti type uk prodrive and whilst donuting in the snow the car was fine.....when I went to pull away I thought I had done the clutch as the car could not pull up the hill but I could not smell clutch then I noticed that the speedo was going up with the rev counter. someone said it was half shaft....anyone know if that is possible and if so is it an expensive job?

The car really stuggles up hill and runs up fine but feels like the power is not getting to the wheels.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Laurence

I think I can safely say its not the half shaft, but as Chris has just said, really does sound like somthing as simple as wheelspin ??

What was it like on the road level snow free surface.

Never had any such problem and my STi spins wheels every day for 6 months of the year here.

Plus I am on studded tyres, so the risk of breaking something is much bigger as they grip much more than summer tyres.

I did however blow a few sensors last winter. (went to high in revs due to wheelspin).

Check what it does on non-snowy roads.

sounds like the half shaft tbh. I know someone who did the same when the car hit grass from tarmac and spun the wheel up. He got it fixed under warrenty. Just get down to the dealer for them to have a look. Would'nt mention donuts thou

Don't think anyone was complaining, just asking what the problem was likely to be.

thats exactly right. I was not moaning about the car I just wanted to know if anyone knew what I had done wrong so I knew exactly what to fix on the car.
