Default Bank cash withdrawals - be careful!!!

I went into the Nat West in Central Milton Keynes this am to take out a fairly large sum of cash. Was quite busy & as I joined the queue an Albanian looking chap, smartly dressed in shirt, tie & light winter coat made to join the queue in front of me & my six year old son but then stood behind me. As we moved down the line towards the cashiers desk he stepped out of the queue & stood near the atms. He had a paying in slip & cash in his hand but seemed undecided as to what he wanted to do. I went to the free cashier which was 2 down from the atms & asked for a sum of money. As the value was over the normal amount & I do not bank at the branch they informed me that they needed to ask some security questions & it would take 5 -10 minutes. No problems, better safe than sorry. My son entertained himself drawing on the banking slips & I could not help but notice this chap just standing around. Bit weird but the bank was busy so I did not pay to much attention to him. A few minutes before I got my cash my son decided that he wanted to go to the toilet and as the misses & no1 son were directly outside I said go & get your Mum to take you. he went out & came straight back for the car keys (in my pocket). The misses locked up the car & went in to the building next door (there was a public toilet there.) I came out of the bank and waited a few minutes for them (did not know where they had gone) & then we got into the car to come home. 5 Minutes into the trip I felt that the car was not handling & heard a noise (wifes Focus C-Max). Bugger, recon I had a puncture. Next safe place to stop was a bus stop as we were on a duel carriage way so I pulled in & stopped at the start of the bus stop. I got out & went round the back of the car & sure enough the rear was nearly flat. As I opened the passenger door to let the misses know a Silver 740 Volvo tried to bump up the kerb 20 yards from the bus stop. I looked up & the passenger was the Albanian from the bank with 2 others, a driver & one in the rear. They saw that I had seen them & bumped back down & drove off. Quickly I got back in the car & as I drove off they came back down the other side of the duel carriageway, passenger & rear seat passenger looking back at our car. We went over the next roundabout & pulled into a petrol station with the misses at the ready to call the Police but either we lost them or the gave up following. Went to put some air in & noticed a 10mm cut in the side wall of the tyre Got a little air in, drove home slowly checking the mirrors the whole way, got the family in the house & locked the doors. Misses ran the police & me the bank to report it.

Spend a hour down the tyre depot getting a new tyre. I recon that we were lucky and when I called the bank to warn them they said that the police needed to be informed before they could look at any cctv. I can understand this but I was more concerned that someone might not be so lucky that same day. I suspect that me son was folled out of the bank, seen getting his mum out of the car & them all walking off making the car an easy target to get to knowing that a flat tyre will cause us to stop somewhere to change the wheel.

Nothing like this has ever happened to me before so thought that it was worth a mention & a warning. If they look suspect, they probulary are

Damn, sounds like you may have had a lucky escape...... i'm guessing the cost of a tyre is minimal in respect of what might have been.....

A good warning for all me thinks...

Maybe, cause he was 'Albanian' he was a bit confused in the bank, not knowing all the processes for paying in or out, and was looking sus cause of that. Coincidentally he saw you later and was about to stop and help when he saw your shocked/scared face and thought bugger, he thinks i'm dodgy, best leave it!!
All too easy to assume the worst, esp where immigrants are concerned, it seems.
just a thouht

I can see your thinking, but, its all extremely coincidental isnt it.... and the slash in the tyre isnt exactly a normal occurrence, especially for it to happen in the sidewall.

I'm glad that it didnt work out the way that it could well have done. Completely agree with contacting the Police about it.

Cheers,
Grant

Oh yeah, he was stopping to help ! Bollox... help himself to the money maybe!
I think you've been really lucky and did the right thing phoning the police and the bank, sadly it'll take someone getting hurt before anything is done about it either that or just pop over 30 and you'll get an escort

Definitely sounds a lot dodgy to me, sounds like it was a close call chap.

Although, just to add another edge to it, it sounds like a bit of a **** plan as a lot of people would notice the puncture in the bank car park and that would scupper their plan unless they could rob you in the car park.

Either way its a story thats not as uncommon as you'd like it to be, glad you're all ok

Somthing similar happened to a friends wife.

A bike collided with her car in Lancaster, she stopped to see if the biker was ok when a car with several men stopped and came for her, fortunatley a police van came round the corner at that very moment and they all got back in the car and drove off.

Wakefield is now full of them, leaching around... the missuse and my daughter get very intimidated by them... I just laugh at the lether jackets slip on shoes and cheesy jewelery... ah the joys of a multiculural society....

Just an observation mind!

Small price to pay I say, for the privilege of the enrichment of our culture by the integration of our east European (and the rest of the world!) cousins into our welcoming society and all the skills and benefits they bring with them. Long may Mr Blair persue his policies of "open door for all"

A very lucky escape, to the people who think its not dodgy ... did you even read the original post? Totally dodgy and very very suss. About 4 months ago when i was going to buy a new car i decided i would take cash with me with it being 200miles away, and if i liked what i saw i would pay cash. I went to my local bank to withdraw £6000 cash. I then left the bank for the 5min walk to where my bro was waiting in his car. Its very interesting how much more notice you take of people when you're carrying large sums of money under your coat.

Over the last 5 years this country has been increasingly getting more ****ed up due to the amount of fkn "asylum spongers" sorry seekers! Its about time the Goverment sorted out this fkn mess. Its not just asylum seekers tho, there chav scum hanging around in gangs intimidating people, crime etc etc

Bring back the death penalty, harsher prison sentences for people who commit crimes and more police on the streets. Instead of releasing crims after 2 years for theft, stick them in there for 30years. Murderers should be executed, manslauger would be life (proper life not 30 years or something silly), rape would also be life+castration, paedos would be executed.

Now ive ranted, anyway lucky escape, i carry a rather large torgue wrench in my car incase of "emergencies".

Gotta ask myself whether i'd prefer to live next door to an asylum seeker (in my experience having worked with a fair few, they are often more decent and more hard-working than many born and bred english people) or live next door to you - Mr Angry who carries a torque wrench.

Funny reading these comments about 'multi-cultural' society.

From the 1950s - 1970s, people for South-East Asia and the West Indies were seen as scum, now it's another group that people are picking on.

History does repeat itself

And people continue to be small-minded bigots too
Too much Sun reading and not enough actual knowledge of what the reality is.
