Default Turned the key at -5 and after two weeks standing...

As title, got back from our hols last night after leaving the car for two weeks.

I'd heard about how some owners have had problems with the STi battery, and before we went away it had done a series of short trips with full fan, demister etc, so it didn't look promising. The fact that it was still -5 Celsius didn't help at all, and the engine was probably colder than that from the early hours...

I turned the key with some trepidation...

It started instantly, no differently from a summer day !

Happy days!

My MY01 WRX also starts every day in the cold without using any throttle, which is pleasing.

I have used a bit of throttle and clutch in last few starts and after being on the drive for a week, started better than it has without throttle over the last few months.

That's a myth.

It comes from the fact that the engine won't start if you use FULL throttle. Used for diagnostics, clearing a flooded engine, etc.

Aye, it cuts the fuel on full throttle whilst cranking (almost all EFi cars do it)......

Very handy if you've let your mum drive it and she somehow stalls and floods the engine.

Scoobs seem to be prone to flooding when cold or when stalled. Mind, they do run super rich at this time year on a cold start - as noted by the waft of petrol from the exhaust and running like an warm MGB on full choke when revved
