Posting this question on behalf of a mate. He has his Impreza re-mapped for optimax but he cant seem to find any, so can he use normal unleaded with octain boosters or would he need drive it off boost so the ECU doesn't reset back to standard?
Thanks in advance

On lower octane the ECU will adjust itself to compensate, then when it goes to higher octane again it will adjust back, on a New Age car the ECU adapts by itself if it is a Classic AFAIK it needs an ECU reset to adapt back to the higher octane for best results

If it's been mapped to an octane higher than 95ron you should run it on that or octane or higher. The ecu should adjust itself to compensate for a lower octane fuel but you should take it steady until you get proper juice back in.
Running normal SUL with octane booster will be fine until Optimax is available again but don't run it on 95ron for any period of time.
IMO of course.
