BOXSTER BEAT ME??
Iv noticed on here that a lot of you say boxsters are quite slow, and that a scooby should be able to dispose of one quite easily (ran a search).
But yesterday I had one pulling away. it was close and he pulled away slightly untill we got turned xxxmph then he started pulling away quicker.??
Is this about right or could there be somthing wrong with me scoob??? my93 wrx?? only difference he was on his own and i had the misses in the car, and it was uphill????
any ideas/info
lads/lasses??????

A 93 WRX -assuming in good health- should make ground on a 2.7 boxster, but would have a hard time with a 3.2. once rolling. There is sufficiently little in it to be a matter of who gets on the power first.
Add the *ahem* weight penalty and you shouln't be too surprised.

I had a tussel with a 54 plate boxster s and a focus ST 5 door. Some traffic light fun that was set 1 went to focus, as we didn't realise this was a competition, set 2 bit of traffic, Scoob won ST 2nd, final set Scoob took it hands down followed by boxster!!! don't know any much more over 75mph though, but for city fights the scoob wasn't beaten

My buddy has a 2.5 Boxster and i have to say if you rev it, it is not that slow. we had a traffic light tussle once and i kept bogging down and it was all over for me, my car only is a little quicker (MY99 Classic)
A 2.5 incidentally has a near 150mph top speed, and also handles great (in the dry )

My MY05 WRX PPP is quoted by Prodrive as just over 14 seconds to 100mph (I think) and I believe a Boxster S is about 14 secs to 100. I would imagine therefore that with either a WRX PPP or standard STi there shouldn't be anything in it - at least with a Boxster S - whereas a standard WRX would struggle up to 60 and lose out to as it got nearer to 100.
The lower powered Boxsters should be about the same as a std WRX to 100 but on paper at least should be slightly slower to 60 ?
That said, when I had an S2000 people on the S2ki site were saying a Boxster S was quicker to 100 than an S2000 when on paper they are supposed to be the same.......
I think any of them are going to be quick unless the driver is asleep!

Boxster 2.7 is 190BHP per tonne
Boxster S is 210BHP per tonne
93 WRX (I'm guessin 208bhp? ) about 170bhp per tonne
I’d say it looks likely you’d have lost that tussle either way

a MY93 WRX is getting on a bit now... 13yrs old!! what condition and how 'was' it looked after before you had it?
as time goes by you cAN LOOSE bhp... JUST LOOK AT TopGear when they had the 70's super cars.... one was down to 83bhp from 255!!!
Boxster is a two seater and lighter remeber and newer!

Being a newly converted Scooby owner I shouldn’t really be saying this but I did (allegedly for legal reasons and naturally on a private road) have a tussle once upon a time in my old ‘84 carrera against a prodrive STI – it was basically a straight line drag.
We were neck and neck upto 110-115 but then my old 911 began to slowly creep ahead and at 140 and beyond the STI was losing some serious ground.
Man, she was one brave little motor but at a cost of £10K for the engine rebuild she’d better have been!
…of course on a wet road with corners I’d have been TOTALLY screwed but otherwise not bad for a 22 year old car!…so the moral of the tale is only race rear wheel drive super cars (new or old) on wet twisty roads and your guaranteed to win!!.
And as for the Jag that totally caned my 911 – one rainy day in my new Scooby I’ll have you!! I’ll have you good n proper ya big fat 450bhp lump of slippery eel like whale dung…(on a private road of course)

Or get a Scooby with a remap! Then you have a car that can put its power down properly and won't scare you in the wet!

Let me assure you it happened...remember I was 10K miles in from a £10K engine rebuild on a 1160kg car with a 240bhp 3.2litre engine (with SSI headers)...she was incredibly fast...that's about 210bhp per tonne which if my maths is right puts it it on a par with a 300bhp STI...you tell me which car is going to have less drag above 120mph...I've had that car reading 164mph on the clock and she was still pulling strong...

Why do people who protest that the scooby is a fast car always get thrown in the same category as the kind who maintain that it's unbeatable!
It is possible to acknowledge that the scooby is a fast car, without positing it's the fastest production car in the world, which it certainly is not!

It depends on the type of Porche you go up against the brick built are not very quick due to the weight but the double glazed UPVC will beat most things from the lights

I was once burned by a three wheeler!
I was in an old mgb gt (yeah I know but we've all been there haven't we?) and going as quick as an mgb can (ooh the thrill of 90mph!) foot down hard and this bloody reliant robin came screaming past me and it was still accelerating away - I kid you not it was uncatchable.
