I reckon they are a "look at me" thing bu not in a Chav way - the "what the **** is that?" look on peoples faces (not trying to be sexest here but especially middle aged women) when the 'ppphhhhsssstt' goes is hilarious.

Something to laugh at
one step up from the div's that drive round with their music so loud everybody looks and sees one sad case all alone cruising the same street over and over again in the desparate hope that some bird is going to make their day and jump in....NOT

I think its personal preference, if a guy wants a dump valve on his car and wants advise i dont see why people have to slate him for it! especially when he is a new user on here, it just encourages them to go elsewhere!
Dazzr1 ive had a bailey dump valve on mine in the past but the sound does start to p*ss you off after a day or so also mine didnt seem to run as good with it on as it causes your engine to overfuel due to the air being vented out instead of back thru the system.

Furry muff, tis just the word "chav" grinds on me and is used too freely.
It has nothing to do with the fact my Forge VTA is on the way

As this is a newbie we should be giving him advice before flaming him to death.
On my old P1 I had an induction kit and a replacement dump valve, plus full de-cat. The combination was an almighty growl rather than a RS Turbo psshhhhh. I think that a pleasant combination can be had without sounding too tacky.
But......from reading countless posts on here, as I understand it, the STANDARD parts are the best for your car in normal guise. In fact you could actually reduce your performance by just bolting on an aftermarket dump valve, as it could affect the flow and make the engine run lean. My interpretation from all the threads I have read on here is that if you are going to modify anything to do with the air flow, a remap is advisable to balance it all out......que det...que cocklink.....
...PS Lewis where are you...

thanks for the comments guys, well most of you anyway
dont quite get the whole "MY" thing? its a '99 wrx on a T plate?
the car has a full hayward & scott exhaust, an ecutek TEK 3, and a green panel filter i think, has been R/R'd at two places showing 269bhp with graphs,
i realise you dont all agree with having a dump valve, but evryone has their own likes and dislikes, thats what makes us indivdual
what sort of price am i looking at for a HKS SSQ/SQV?

Chav Overload
Why don't you lot give this lad the technical advice he was asking for instead of giving him the chav lecture thats already been done to death.
Those in the know just give him some constructive advice and forget about the old chav routine.

Definitions of Chav on the Web:
Chav is a derogatory slang term in popular usage throughout the UK. It refers to a subculture stereotype of a person who is uneducated, uncultured and prone to antisocial or immoral behaviour. The label is typically, though not exclusively, applied to teenagers and young adults of white working-class or lower-middle class origin. Chav is used for both sexes, where a male chav is sometimes referred to as a chavster and a female as a chavette. ...
nowhere does it say that chavs generally drive cars with dump valves, they do however comment on how their nova or corsa will beat cars with dump valves as long as said nova/corsa has a graphic on the back window and set of alloys, coz the wheels add 50bhp alone INNIT!!!
it is fair to say that alot of true chavs admire imprezas but not too many actually own one.

In order to save money you could put an HKS sticker on your car and wind down the window and shout: "Im a ****!" at traffic lights, or in McDonald's carpark!
