I've seen an Evo8 on a drift day at Oulton Park just before xmas. Was sideways in to every corner then powering out to get it straight again. Looked like a lot of fun and would be nice to explore the handling of your car on a wet mussy road surface like that. There is also very good instruction during the day so well worth a go I'd say as all the driving is low speed so not too much wear and tear on your car.

Cant say as the idea of drifting appeals to me. I can think of better ways to waste my tyres.

You will have fun on either the drift day at Oulton (on the polished tarmac, doesn't kill tyres) rally stages and also on the track day.
Depends what you're after to be honest.
I'm guessing you're talking about the tracksport events at the end of this month?
Why not do a half day at each? The Impreza is ideal for drifting, but it can be done, and will teach you a lot about the handling of your car in relative safety at low speed. Free instruction as well

Yep its the tracksport events at the end of the month at oulton park, im a bit of a fustrated rally driver so if the drift track is oultons rallyschool tarmac stage then that may be the event for me, and i don't have to worry about outbraking myself into lodge corner and ending up in the nasty gravel pit.

Hi Martin, if in doubt come down and I'll take you out. You might also like to have a look at this, http://www.grandprixweekender.com/vi...updrifting.AVI , although you may need the divx codec from www.divx.com

More questions about drifting
Thats a good idea, the down side is i'll end up wanting to have ago myself and will prob kick myself for not booking in advance. Another question is the drifting just about getting into and maintaining a drit - which is an ineficient was of taking a corner or just about going round the corner sideways rally style, which will i imagine require more speed. Hope that queation makes sense, i know what im trying to say

There shouldn't be a problem getting you in, we tend to run pretty low numbers on drift days.
The drift thing is all about inducing it, and maintaining it, in a controlled environment. You will learn an awful lot from it.
Most Imprezas have roughly a 50:50 power distribution front to rear, and behave quite strangely when pushed beyond the limits of their grip, and, tbh, its a good thing to learn what will happen and how to deal with it.

much more fun in an old sh itter tbh, the Impreza's quite 'educational' but I had whiplash after last time....... whereas the big lazy 5 series is just made to make you grin from ear to ear

Think i'm going to go for the trackday. I do like a slide but not to sure about the appeal of spending £100 on a half day driffting versus £125 for full trackday. having watched many a race at oulton park i want to drive round the track for a day exploring the limits that way. Although am worried ill either loose it into old hall or over do it into lodge corner. Then again thats just based on where the car and bike's usually crash when racing so as a track day isn't a race hopefully i'll not replicate them.

You don't really need to worry about crap wheels or tyres, its slippy enough, and you're very unlikely to damage a wheel
