Default how much is my wrx worth ?

Hi All,

I am thinking of selling the love of my life - wrx bugeye wagon. U.K. (x reg, dec 2000).

Roughly how much is it worth up here in the North East as a private sale, are cars selling at this time of year, do they go for book price, etc ?

43,000 miles. Full s.s.h. Silver. 1 Previous owner. Excellent condition.

This is not a sales pitch, and I do not want any offers, it is just a hypothetical question.

I will understand if the thread is deleted or moved - no problems. I do not have access to the "For Sale" section for some reason, that's why I am asking it here.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Graeme.

Try Autotrader for a rough idea...

Talk about gutted, I was expecting quite a bit more.

When I've looked in the mags, they seem to be advertised at a couple of grand more than the book. I thought this must be because they are such a sought after car.

What flavour crisps ?

Cheers,
Graeme.

£8095 for retail price. thats top book, usually supplied with warranty and all the other extras you would expect to get from a dealership.

sorry mate

Cheers Jamo,

Looks like I'll have to send the wife out "on the streets" to raise the extra cash for a newer one !! Oh well, she's got a warm coat.

Cheers,
Graeme.

hmm i guess that's what happens when there's a facelift every 2 years.

(and you get the ugly one )

if this is the depreciation on them, i think i'll keep my MY05 for ever

You know the wife then !!

Oh, you mean the car, yeah the bugeye is ugly, but endearing.

Hopefully if I trade it in against a newer Impreza the Subaru dealer may feel sorry for me.

Cheers,
Graeme.

6450, what a laugh....... book prices are utter bollocks. in the real world to get a rough idea the autotrader is the best place for a comparison.

book price is a self-fullfilling prophecy (thats what the book says, so people try to sell them for a bit more than book, and people want to pay a bit less than book)

just cos there's one up on autotrader (a trader btw) doesn't mean they'll get £9999

Scoobynet will always tell you its worth less than it is mate. Have a look around, see what else is for sale and price your accordingly.

Well I bought my (late) 2001 bugeye in November this year and it was just under £10K so you should get more than £6450

They were all about that price from a dealer because I looked for about 3 months to make sure I didn't get screwed.

put it on ebay with a reserve, you will soon know its approximate worth.

My rule of thumb is subtract 15% to 20% of what you realisticly think its worth, this will give you a "selling figure". There may be lots advertised in Autotrader at £40k but that doesnt mean any of them will ever sell at that!

It's alright seeing what they are advertised for on Autotrader but it's how much they finally sell at what matters!

Thanks for the advice, one and all.

From what I've seen in the ads, they seem to go for more than the book price.

The problem is there are so many out there, I think it is just pot luck if you find the right buyer at the right time.

Time will tell. Me thinks e-bay will be the place to start. Autotrader seems to promise alot but fails to deliver.

Cheers,
Graeme.

if it was to go through a car auction and traders were looking to buy it, then they would be using the CAP book or the Glass Guide. so actually yes book price has a lot to do with it, else why else would we all subscribe to it each year and pay several hundred pounds for the pleasure.

it is true that should you put it onto ebay or put it up for sale you may get a better price, but as I stated above I just quoted directly from the book

Hi Jamo,

Sorry mate,

Didn't mean to offend, just thinking (typing) out loud.

I normally use parkers when looking at a car or prices, they are usually pretty fair

when i was selling my MY01 in last august, i looked in autotrader at some adverts then waited about 5 days after issue and rang a few of them up to see if they had sold-from the ones that had sold that gave me an idea of my selling price and from that i advertised my MY01 at 10,000 and sold within a few days

Its funny, but my experience is that when it comes to selling your car, the trade refer to books like Parkers etc.... citing them as reasons as to why you should give your car to them for peanuts.

However, when it comes to using such evidence as justification for questioning the prices of the cars they're selling, the books are somehow non-applicable!! :-)

i would want my car to take more than a few days to sell. if it does it tells you you could have got more, pretty easily
