Im afraid that that isnt really accurate. The WRX Type-SA was available only during the 'Wagon's introductory year; it was intended as a cheaper entry-level model (think poverty-spec!). The price was reduced by not fitting much of the standard equipment; a by-product of this was that the car was lighter, but this was not by design and it did not have any 'lightened panels' (nor does the Type-RA saloon). In no way is it a GF8 equivelant of a GC8 Type-RA; sorry.

Then you were misled; the WRX SportsWagon Type-SA is exactly as I have described. If nonsense like this isnt corrected it perpetuates. Theres endless crap talked about JDM cars and 47D models particularly; the car may be nice but its not the 'RA version for the wagon' and the man should buy it knowing exactly what it is.

Both; they were all manufactured as manuals with autos being retro-converted. There are a high percentage of automatics as with all 'Wagons sold in Japan.
