Speed stripes

Speed stripes
In many areas when approaching a lower speed zone, e.g. 40 or 30mph, there are raised speed stripes painted on the road. The typically count up the the entry to the speed zone -
one stripe - badump
two stripes - badump-badump
three stripes - badump-badump-badump
So here is the question - why, oh, why are the stripes right across the road so that you have to drive over them to leave said speed zone as you accelerate up to your more normal national speed limit of 90-100mph?
It's a bugger accelerating hard with firm suspension as you get wheelspin unless you have trick diffs.

It's too help slow all the big tescos lorries - when they hear the bumps they jam full on in their unrestricted 10litre turbo diesel nascar race prepared super trucks - the bumps give them extra traction and allow them to scrub off speed rapidly...
They are ridiculous - I got to agree...

Well that explains why they are in the braking zone - but not why they are also across the other side of the road in the acceleration zone so the NASCAR trucks can get away even faster.
Why not just paint them up the dotted line in the middle. It would also save paint!

They're there to make the aluminium bonet of imports bounce humourosly.
Can't think of any other reason for wasting paint
In Haxby, north of York, they've painted some triangles on the road, which from some angles, look a bit like square speed humps. Must have run out of money

This was asked to my local Council who state that its to make people aware of changes in speed limits and bizarely traffic calming.
All they seem to have done is create more road noise and make the roads even rougher than before.

I used to live on an estate where single file speed bimps were introduced every fifty metres - for those who lived by the road it was MUCH noiser as cars waited to go through, smacked into the bumps and then accelerated to the next one!
