Question My cars due a service next month

Im not sure what exactly needs doing. The car is 5 years old and has covered 55k. The service book only goes upto 48months and the cambelt was done last time as it was due on age.

It had a interm service 6 months ago, which included cambelt.

Now im pretty sure it needs the following doing:

- Engine oil
- Coolant
- Brake Fluid
- Transmission/Diff Oil
- Fuel Filter

Does this sound right?

bit lost with your servicing schedule mate, what shape/year is yours?

schedule will just repeat itself (what was 6 months becomes 54 months etc) if that helps

Hang on, You've lost me...

interim service doesn't have a cambelt change (should be oil+filter)

And isn't cambelt due on the 6th year (every 3 years/45K)? Or that every 4years now??.

Coolant+gearbox/diff oil+brake fluid+fuel/air filter+sparkplugs should be every 2 years (30K)??

IIRC the 5 years is just a normal annual service [not the fluid change or the cambelt service]

ah yeah but mines 7 years old and it's a 99 classic

as far as i'm aware your schedule is the same as mine (bar the cambelt being done at 4 years instead of 3 for mine) was your last service the 48 month one or what is in effect 54/old 6 month one?

afraid so, but when my last cambelt service was done (year ago,72 month) i asked the dealer why it was extended to 4 years on the '00 which is the same car and he said subaru were extending the life span of all the belts (belive latest shape are 5 years between cambelts?) and so he recommended leaving it for a year as mileage was low and in theory it should last as long as the MY2000 cambelt that is good for 4 years.

confused? i am

I know it doesnt. But as i said going by the service book it was due one. Effectively it was due a 60k service but as the car had only done 55k it didnt technically need one. The cambelt was changed due to age not mileage.

ignore previous post, brains frazzled

so, you had the 48 month/60k service which should have had the cambelt, but this was done on the next service which was 54 month (old 6 month), your next service will be the same as the 12 month in the book which is :-

engine oil and oil filter change only, the same as your last except they inspect other parts on your car so it will be dearer.

PHEW!

by the way, i wouldn't leave the belt on for longer than the qouted 4 years again, regardless of mileage. not worth the risk IMHO

OK, lets try again. Look at your service schedule chart/table before all the stamps (make sure it's 4cam turbo - not the Legacy )...look for any patterns in fluid replacements (i.e the "R"s )

Mine is every 2years/or 30K (which ever is sooner) for all fluids plugs and filters. Presuming your is the same, it'll be due on every 2nd(30k), 4th(60k), 6th(90K) 8th(120K) year/miles

at the risk of starting off something that seems resolved what i meant was you initially said you had a service done that was for 60k. i think this was your 60 MONTH service which is why you're now approaching your 90k/72 month service a year later. the 60k service was when the car was 48 months old.

either way mate, sounds like you're now sorted
