It was only available in the Uk on the RB5 or on the JDM's. Same colour but different name in Japan.

I'm pretty sure the car in that pic has been re-sprayed using a BMW colour iirc

Just had a look on the standox web site a paint company we use 86f code comes out as blue steel metalic 1999 to 2000 and cool grey colour comes out as cool grey opal metalic 1997 to 1999 with a colour code of 55d go to any big bodyshop supplier with these codes ,they should show you a colour chit for both which will give you a better idea of the colour your after.

sorry to hijack and go off topic, but that is the first pic i've seen of the new shape where the front actually looks nice! quite brutal looking.
anyone know if this car has any additional bodykit bits?

subaru should have got that snapper to do their pics, as theirs don't do it justice if this is what it looks like in the flesh

What you can do is go to a paint shop and ask them to give you the subaru list of color samples. From there you can match your color with the code.

06 STI USA comes in two grey colors:

Steel gray metallic (paint code?, can anyone supply?)

and

Crystal gray metallic (paint code 48W, Can anyone confirm?)

ref http://www.subaru.com/shop/colors.js...=WRX_STI_SEDAN

Guess gray in US is grey in UK
