Default 1993 Import WRX info.

HI,

I have a 1993 wrx import impreza (4 door) and keep hearing different bhp figures and 0-62 figures etc.

Can anyone tell me the true figures for the import wrx's.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I've never found times for the 240ps like mine, most quoted are for the 260-280 version.
Just put a Z4 in mine, which I believe pushes it to 260. haven't timed anything yet, but it is spinning the wheels in 1st now.

I do 30-70 through gears for comparisons, which because it takes longer, decreased the margin or error. You can't accurately time 2 seconds yourself whilst driving and looking at the speedo, and if you take a mate along, you slow down. I'm goind to put my camera on the parcel shelf soon (which I do for sprinting), and the LED GPS on the dash, then I can play it back and time the speed accurately afterwards.
30-70 took 6 seconds last time I tried, but it was only boosting to 0.7bar.

PS anyone done a before and after power run in a 93 WRX with a decat? Interested to know what the increase is like

Interesting, if the 50-70 thread doesn't pick up soon let's start a 30-70 one if you think that would be best, and what gear (was thinking 4th as 5th is a bit low geared for 30 imo)?

I go through the gears. This adds the time to change gear of course (only once), but I think it's the best performance benchmark. I'm more interested in this type of acceleration than in-gear - torque is certainly useful, but we'd all have TDIs if that was the be all and end all.

Otherwise it would have to be in 3rd I think.

Just got the following:
30-70 thru gears 5.11
30-70 3rd 5.8
30-70 4th 8.1
50-70 3rd 3.0
0-60 5.7 (pleased with that, though obviously could shave a bit off at the expense of the clutch)

93 WRX, Z4, induction kit (apr 260ps)

Yes i'm being pedantic but 93wrx saloon is Quoted as 240 PS which i belive equates to around 235 BHp, and 0-60 in 4.9 unfortunatley i think not check this link

but with a Z4, it's the same as a late '94 - 260ps (256 bhp)
I think 4.9s a bit optimistic, but there's some to be gained with a perfect launch / grippy surface. Will log it on my next drag run.
Very hard on the tranmission though, for a 13 year old car!

What would you consider a MY93 WRX-RA 0-60

Full de-cat, RCM system, Organic clutch, lightened & balanced flywheel.

I contacted the previous owner of my car, and he still has the original d/v from my car, so I'm swapping it for the bailey thing he left me with.

I doubt the 240 / 260 ones could do 4.9, maybe an RA

Got those figures from Jap Performance Mag's Subaru supplement they did a while ago, and also read the same in another report somewhere else.

The 93 WRX is rather light and short geared, giving it quick acceleration, especially 0-60.

Maybe 4.9 is feasable in ideal conditions, but a perfect run takes some doing. With the WRX you need to use 3rd too, I believe the UK car can so it 2nd. I have 17's and a large wing on, which don't help (and usually a pretty weighty baby seat!)

As an aside, the mechanic I use was porting the head of the Distinctive Car's Skyline when I popped in this week. It was already running over 700bhp. They haven't managed a drag run yet, it keeps breaking things. Interested to see the times when they do...

I have a bit of a skyline fetish, so I would be interested in the times the car gets, when it is stable!

Not surprised, H&S quoate about the same.
Did you notice improved torque / spool up?
for 7bhp, I don't think it's worth the money or MOT hassle
