Default Wheel arch cleaning - how ??

Whats the best method to clean the wheel arches on my Scoob ?

Problem is that my Scoob tends to get muddy when going to look at my new house (down a muddy track), Use the hose pipe to get rid of the mud from the arches but it now the protector stuff that Subaru applied now seems to have a brown ish tinge to it.

Whats the best way to get this looking black again ? - Its more noticable as the car is black !

Thanks

Richard

I use a pressure washer to get the worst of it off, then use the hose with a regular spray gun to squeeze into the gap and rinse out all the muck that the jet hose can't reach.

When your office is on a cattle farm, you stop worrying too much about the colour of your wheelarches - even if they were black just after a wash, they'd be brown again within a day anyway

Pressure washer....but not at full power or you will strip your underseal.

Be thankful you havn't got a MK6 Fiesta, they have a carpet like material under the arches, impossible to clean with anything but a pressure washer.

Once I have scrubbed the wheels arches and the tyres I spray Armoural back to black on the tyres and under the wheel arches too, works a treat

Once you have washed the arches could you not spray some Back to Black or similar to try and get rid of the browny tint?

At the beginning of Spring and a few times through the Summer, i go to the trouble of jacking up the rear end, under the rear diff - this is the only way to get access to them properly. From there it's just a process of using the right combination of brushes, sponges and cloths etc to get in all the nooks and crannies. The rear offside arch is usually the worst as the petrol tank piping is a mud magnet. Most people don't go to these lengths of course, but if your car is in really good condition, you'd be surprised how much more complete it will look if the wheel arches are similarly clean.

Whilst waiting in the queue for the jetwash go round and spray AutoGlym Engine and Machinery degreaser on the wheelarches. Then spray the jetwash under there and you will be surprised at how much comes off. If you have never done it before it may take two attempts but once done spray with tyre shine or bumper shine and that will help stop more mud sticking in future. If you spill any on the wheels you will notice that the degreaser gets brake dust off really well...however, don't get ANY on the discs otherwise you will have no brakes. This is no joke, the degreaser leaves a semi slimy surface on the discs that doesn't burn off with heat, or not easily anyway!
