Type R help please for a newbie
Hello all
Will someone please explain all the differences around the trype r's please
I mean is there a big difference between a 1999 STI 6 Type R V Limited and say a 1998 STI type R version 4.
I am potentially going to be looking at an STI 6 Type R V Limited but there seems a lot of difference in price than an 1998 STI type R version 4
If someone could take the time to explain all the differences with all the Type r's and what is the most rare to me i would really appreciate it.
Many Thanks in advance
Matt

The SIDC FAQ is a good place to look but in additon to that I'd add...
V4 compared with V5/6:-
1) Different front bumper and rear wing
2) V5's and latter can have an EcuTek remap where as the pre 1999 needs a complete replacement ECU (usually Apexi Power FC)
Apparently there are differences in the engine and turbo but all 3 versions make the same power.
Umm, there may well be more but that's all I'm aware of (I've got a V4 by the way)!

Oh and as regards the V-limited... there's a bit of confusion from what I've read on here in the past. My understanding is that the V-limited has a taller 5th gear (better on the motorway as mine with std gearing revs at 4000rpm at 80mph) and a quicker steering rack. From my experience I'd like both of them on my car especially the quicker steering. They also have a roof vent but I can live without that!
