OK I have recently bought a P1, it has a Full subaru service History but is now out of warranty and is now in need of a service, so should I :

1. Try and get teh warranty renewed because it has the full service and then get it serviced at Subaru

2. Just get it serviced by Subaru at a cost of £300 quid ish

3. Take it to an independent like Scooby4u or Power Engineering

Thanks

Tony

Number 1 .............

The P1 may well be a collectors item in the future, you need yours to stand out when you sell. They are also not the most reliable of Impreza's!!

If you are not interested in selling then number 3 - if you have no warranty then these people do a great job at a good price.

You will find also the warranties offered by Subaru are incredibly over priced and will not cover everything.

Like any kind of insurance, it's a gamble.

Put the money for the warranty aside and then call on it to rectify any faults.

Personally, I wouldn't look twice at a Scoob without FSSH.

Ted.

If buying a P1 i would expect it to come with full S.S.H.
If i'm not mistaken, Subaru only offer warranty renewals on P1's up to 60k or something of that order, i know its less than other Impreza turbos from when i received my extended warranty notification.

It might be a bit tricky finding a suitable warranty to cover what is potentially an explosive car

End of the day its you that's going to make the choice....
Finances may dictate which route you take

i would consider a scooby with a fsh, as long as its a reputable company like rcm or similar. Im sorry but the idea of a full manfacuter warrenty is fine, the reality s a little different

Even if it is not serviced by Subaru all the time, it still shows that the owner has cared for the car. That speaks volumes to me anyway when buying cars.
I wouldn't touch a scooby without service history, these cars I believe need sevicing more than most.
Plus if you sell, people will snap your hand off with warrenty and FSSH.

thanks for the advice, I am going to chase the warranty route, as people say these are rolling time bombs, the car only has 44K on the clock so they can't say no really !

Subaru Servicing is cheap (having just come from a Cerbera) so all is good

Now.... .to find out how much a warranty renewal costs...... that's the hard bit, been sent from a subaru dealership to subaru UK (IM Group) to be set back to a dealer again ..... how annoying :S

Thanks once again !

I thought you could only extend the P1 warranty for years 4 and 5 (and provided that the mileage was less than 60K. As most P1s were regsitered between May 2000 and May 2001 the year 5 warranty would expire soon anyway.

I also seriously doubt that Subaru would bring a car back under warranty if the cover had not been continuous from new.
