Apart from the Twin Scroll Turbo, what are the main differences between the Blobeye UK STI & JDM STI?

Thinking of getting a JDM model but would like to know what the differences are?

Off the top of my head;

1. Clear Indicators.
2. RE070 Tyres.
3. Twin Scroll turbo with more efficient exhaust path.
4. Auto 7 Manual Intercooler waterspray.
5. Electric folding mirrors.
6. Auto/manual DCCD.
7. Red backlit intrument panel which sweeps on start up
8. Flare in passenger footwell (for when you breakdown)
9. Quick rack steering rack.
10. All the suspenion is different. Bushes ARB etc.
11. The JDM Sti weighs 1,440kg vs 1,470kg UK Sti for the 2003 model. I don't know why it is lighter though.

All of the above is comparing JDM STi vs UK STi and not a Spec 'C'

Can't think of anything else.

i drove both before buying a jdm sti - much better car over a uk spec - the spec c is even better

oh and it has a rear windscreen wiper as well!

That's about it for differences; if you're talking about the '05 model, both the UK and JDM STI have the same chassis setup and long wheelbase from the Spec C.

i had been told before I bought a type UK not such a good warranty and resale values? higher insurance premiums......

oh yes - uk 265bhp - jdm 300bhp out the box. Very easy to get to 340+ on a jdn with just a remap and exhaust system

Engines are different, JDM cars use Hyperreuetic (sp) pistons which are stronger than the forged ones in the UK cars (150-200% supposedly)
Grooved crank for better oil distribution.
Some more electrical goodies over a UK car.
Shorter 5th and 6th gear ratio, not hectic on the motorway before people start saying it is just gives you more accelleration

I semi-wished i'd of tried a JDM first. But i saw no black ones available anywhere at the time.

The rear wipe would come in handy for up-north though.

if im going to get another scooby, unless subaru seriously up the anti hear in the UK its going to be a JDM

you will probably find the insurance is cheaper. Andy s who has just bought my old one found this out to his amazment (jdm v's uk car with ppp) and he is running far more bhp

my 340+ bhp jdm sti was/is cheaper on insurance than my 240bhp uk300 was - fair plan to a-plan insurance - spot on for imports

I had a STI Type R a few years back so I don't mind paying a bit extra for insurance as the car spec does seem to be better.

Well, think I will try and keep my eye's open for a JDM model then better get on the phone to A-Plan as they seem to be quite good.

Do you have to be a certain age for A-Plan to insure you on an import as im 27? I know when I was looking around for me old JDM Type R some places wouldn't insure anyone under the age of 30!!!

Well most of the JDM's seem to be blue which I wouldn't have a problem with, or silver one to be different.
Black looks nice but it's a b4st4rd to clean/keep clean.... currently have a Black Civic Type R and have kinda promised myself not to buy another black car

Do the JDM cars come with the Magnesium Alloys as standard then? They look better than the UK standard wheels, and if thats the case atleast the insurance company's can't charge you extra silly amounts for different wheels

They were a factory option, they are a part of the drivers pack, the only car that had them standard was the spec c.

The drivers pack was the A-DCCD, quick rack steering, BBS alloys and RE070's
On the MY05's i think these came as standard.
