why does some bugeyes wrx have bucket seats and others have just crap seats

 

The "crap" ones as you put it, are the ones with airbags.

 

Only ones i have seen with crap seats have been early Bugs.
Sod air bags, give me a bucket!

Some of the very early bug-eyes didn't have bucket seats - the vast majority do. Bucket's seats were not ready for shipping with the very first bug-eyes brought into the UK due to a delay somewhere along the line I believe. Mine is one of the very early bug-eye's, but still had the bucket seats, so there must be very few without them.

 

There are quite a few around, as the so called, "Sports" seat with airbags remained a no cost option for some time. Most of the initial UK allocation came with them. Some people actually prefer them. Not me however...

All wagons had bucket seats, much to my relief when the saloons started coming off the boat.

 

All EU cars seem to come with bucket seats as opposed to the UK bench seat. Far superior, even if they come without side airbags. At least you don't feel like you need to hold on to steering wheel to prevent falling out the window..!

 

I'm one of the very few people who am glad I have the airbag seats, even though I would like bucket seats.

Having a 4 year old boy in the car, I like the idea of having that extra bit of protection in case of an accident.

That said, the blue STi bucket seats look sooooo much better.

 

My 02WRX was a Euro import, I got the opportunity to specify buckets or sports seats with side airbags as no cost options. I went with buckets.
