Tesco 99 RON Super Unleaded.......
.....any one on here use it .
Did'nt actually realise they did it until I stumbled across it on the Web, always thought Optimax was the best you could get.
So does anyone here use it, is it good / bad ?.
From what I read you can't go wrong plus it is at least 2p a litre cheaper than Optimax .
Got to fill the car up tonight so may well go for it.
Cheer's .

Great news Flat Eric! Especially that 99RON is coming to York at last!!!! I've hated having to sit here reading others gloating over this cheap high grade petrol.
Bring it on!

Hi Mark
Yup not been around much lately. Moved house end of 2005 which has kept me very busy & away from meets etc. Livin' near Dunmow - hence well chuffed Dunmow Tesco now doing 99 Kept having to think about filling up every time I was passing a Tesco with 99 or a Shell garage
Up side of moving is I now have a double garage to keep the Scoob snug in
Be good to catch up with ya some time. If the Steath Wagon fancys a blast out into the country you are more than welcome to pop round.

I used tesco 99 ron 4 about 5 month,s went to a rolling road day lost power.
I went from 274bhp down to 245bhp went back to shell, back up to 276bhp.
I did have my car remaped to shell a year before.
Reading my mates fast ford at work they done test,s
on tesco+ESSO+shell on the same car and shell optimax was the best.
Power was up more than 17bhp over tesco fuel and esso was 2nd place with about 12bhp up.
That was on my 99uk scooby.

Just looked through Banzai magazine where they tested 95 ron UL, BP Ultimate, Tesco 99 and shell Optimax on a cossie engine strapped to a engine dyno the bhp figures are; UL 512, Tesco 523, BP Ultimate 537 and suprise, suprise Shell Optimax 547. With a statement that with Optimax they were able to run a extra 3 degrees advance on the ignition.
Is this the final story? or is there more info out there.

With tesco 99 they could only advance the ignition an extra 0.75 degrees up from the 13 degrees that they were using, before they encounted det. Using Optimax, they managed to advance it 3 degrees.

It would be very interesting to see some official figures on this, tesco 99 ron should "if it is what it says it is" be able to resist detenation and run more advance than lesser octane rated fuels. Unless of course it is a quality issue.
Anyway ive just tanked up my my03 wrx which has always had sainsburys super unleaded in her, so i'll try it and see.
