Cool 2 Door Scooby on a £4k budget??

Hi guys, I'm new on here but been around the net for years

As far as my above question goes, is it realistic? I thought it might be possible to find a Type R around that price but having had a quick look around today, I'm starting to think I may have to settle for a 4 door.

Cheers for any input guys.

Spend a bit of time searching the for sale section on here. It will give you an idea whats around for the money.

You have more chance walking to the moon and back in an hour mate unless salvaged.....Scoobys have dropped in price and are certainly more affordable, but 4k will only get you an early saloon.

It's still only an option, anyway. At the moment I have a shortlist of:

Sierra Sapphire Cosworth
MR2 Turbo
Impreza (has to be a turbo model, uk or import, so not an early non turbo!)
RX Twin Turbo is a possibility but a bit of an outsider.

If I go for an Impreza then I'll take a 4 door if need be, just prefer the 2 doors.

Cossie = hard to find a decent one which wont end up in bits in the non too distant

Mr2 turbo = underestimated quick car

Impreza = find a good one and you'll be ok, probably need more than a std UK to get the kind of fun and pace the MR2 would give you

RX7 = quick but thirsty and unreliable I believe.

2 door? Not a chance mate!

You MAY find an early STI or RA for that money which should give a lot of bang for your buck.

RX7 are like scooby's. look after them and they will be fine. The rotor Tip is the main part that tends to go.

Very bad on the go go juice!

Yes I agree with your summary of each car there mate. Only thing putting me off an MR2 is that I don't think a 2 seater car will be spacious enough for me as I may need to lug stuff about now and then and it'll be my only car.

Cossie.... I'm a bit of a Ford nut but I don't wanna buy an old nail, and would probably need to spend nearer £6k.

Scooby - Would have it remapped etc and would happily buy an import model. Seems the best all round option at the mo.

RX7 - Nice, fast, but not many garages can cope with them and they all meed rebuilding!

cossy all the way mate, i'd buy my old 370bhp (harvey gibs engine) one back from my mate in a shot - but the wife would devorce me... she hated it sooooooo much.

heres some pics to wet you whistle.

The engine bay is full of polised spec R stuff now that my mates got it (i'm not into bling bling.. also has a set of 17" black alloys & 4x4 bonnet.)

Best car i ever had.

That's a beauty mate

I've got a lot of mates in the Ford scene (I'm a permanent fixture on PassionFord, but under another username ) so the Cossie is definitely high on the list. Just not sure yet. Not looking to buy anything til around April so I'm doing my research at the mo.

Cossies worry me though in that it's easy to end up with a nail. On the other hand if anything breaks I've got a few people I can ring that will know how to fix it lol.

Decisions, decisions....

Thanks mate, i just wish i still had it.... i'm the dark horse in my circle of friends... they all got cossys... ahhh never mind thou.. my scoob will be all facelifted and cashmere yellow by the end of march so it will look 10x beter.

Anyway, that car really is excellent - the body work is mint and still has the original pannels (date stamped to prove). last time i spoke to him he was thinking of selling it as he's kind of gone the superbike way...

i'll try get a spec list from my archive of crap on this pc.!!

Ahmed bayjoo mapped
4x4 intercooler, manifold, oil cooler and oil pump
Harvey Gibs rebuilt engine with gen 2 escort cos block
T3 hybrid, cant remember the exact spec, with T34 outlet.
-31 actuator
low comp pistons (cant remember the compression)
Ported, matched and polished head
3bar map sensor
dark greens
motorsport 350 fuel pump
moongoose exhaust
big wing sump
bilsten shocks
uprated springs but left at standard ride hight
rebuilt gearbox
poly bushes on the front and rear, brand new ford items every where else
full samco water/boost pipes
Engine built with steel gaskets, (cometic?? )
Induction kit
auto gauge boost meter
runs 24psi

thats all i can remember... although a set of greys/rs500 intercooler and remap will see it over the 400bhp. Which i had planned but wife forced me to sell.

Johnny50 on the rs owners club was the dude that used to own b4 me and he spent the hard earned getting the enigne work done.
