Default How to get the wheels off..?

Just been reading a thread about someone who takes their wheels off to clean their Brembos, and something ocurred to me....

I have Gold wheels...

(not scared to admit it now PSL is on hols)

...so how do I undo the wheels nuts without scratching all the paint off...???

Sorry to spoil anyone's dreams but they're NOT solid gold so they're going to mark if i apply the wheel brace on them too hard.

Any ideas or corrections..?

Rich

I put a bit of tape , like cellotape or masking tape around the brace and it stops it from marking the wheels

???? I don't understand

You just put the brace on the knuts and turn them, it should not come into contact with the wheel at all ??

Be carefull to put the wheels down face up, the wheel center sticks out farther than the tyrewall and thus comes into contact with the ground (found out on day 2 of ownership )

The nuts are gold coloured too......

Good tip about the wheels though.

Piece of thin rag over the nut, brace is a bit harder to get on but it should save the paint. Make sure you still get the brace on far enough so it doesn't slip off tho

I'm sure they would if I asked nicely... they both seem like such a lovely bunch of educated and customer focussed quality organisations !

Leave the car in your garage ....... wheels wont get dirty, wont need to take them off, wont scratch the paint ...... job done.

Got to go to the source of the problem
