I just did a search for you, and David at API engines said somewhere that you shouldn't go over 1.1 (16psi) bar for long periods (unless you have changed a lot of components etc.).
Yours is 1 bar so no probs.
You don't want to go over 15psi, as the fuel cut on your ecu (Z4) is 15.65psi. Fuel cut is your ecus safety mechanism for restricting boost, and would feel a bit like a rev-limiter kicking in.
So yours is fine.

I just re-read your original post though, and you said the car is standard? If it is standard then you should be hitting 12.7max.
However, as I said above, if its been de-catted (or maybe has had a manual boost controller fitted) then it will be higher, but so long as it stays below 15.65 (fuel cut) shouldn't be a problem.

WRX (1995/96) ECU Z4 - 12.71psi, dropping to 11.78psi @ 6600rpm. Fuel-cut 15.65psi.
UK ECU's V7, 7D and 6D - 11.47psi, dropping to 9.47psi at 6600rpm. With Fuel-cut @ 14.87psi
UK Prodive ECU - 13.33psi (peaks to 13.64 @ 5600rpm, drops to 12.71psi @ 6600rpm). Fuel-Cut 15.65psi.

WRX Wagon ECU V9 - 10.55psi dropping to 6.84psi (starts to drop @ 5000rpm). Fuel-Cut 13.79psi
