I took my Terzo in for a service this week at my local Subaru dealer. I left the car with them for a week as I was out of the country on business, and provided them with a list of things I would like them to check:

1) Car misfires for about 20 secs when started from cold

2) Gearbox whines in reverse quite bad

3) Exhaust condensation coming from the front of the car on cold mornings

After telephoning them this morning to see how they had got on they had had fixed all of about NONE of the simple problems above. They had come up with some good answers to my questions though:

1) 'The misfire is caused by the non standard air filter' (Blitz)

2) 'Don't know what the gearbox problem is, but we'll have to strip it to find the problem and that will take weeks'

3) 'Nothing wrong with the exhaust, it's just condensation from the radiator'

Is it me, or are these just bull sh*t answers?

Can anybody recommend any good dealers in and around the South Yorkshire area to check out these problems on my car?

I'm thinking of Scoobymania in Nottingham... do they do this kind of stuff, and can they do warranty work (I'm in 3rd year)? 'cos it seems franchised Subaru dealers, despite what JD power survey says, are pants!

Any advice on these problems / where to go is appreciated.

Thanks

SimonM

P.S. this is the same dealer that didn't know what a Terzo was!

Well condensation in the exhausts is a problem with a lot of Subarus.I think the proble is with the catalyst. In the garage where I work last week one of the lads had trouble starting an unregistered new Forester S-turbo and when it did eventually start you should have seen the amount of water that was coming out of the exhaust,so then I took it out the road and there was some serious popping and banging as the engine cleared itself out.Its not that there was anything wrong with this particular Forester cause it happens to all new turbo charged Subarus.

Simon,

Speak to Trevor @ Lucas of Mansfield main dealers, not to far from you. Have found them to be very helpful. Phone no 01623 626244
