safari holidays in july?
I am getting married this year and my better half and I would like to go on safari in july (to the massi or kruger). I realise this is the wet season. But has anybody been and whats the weather really like at this time of year.
Thank you

Kruger in July is not the wet season - it's their winter which is actually the dry season, believe it or not. It's a good time to go as because it's dry the bush dies down allowing you to see the animals and they have to come to waterholes to drink, whereas in the wet season - their summer (not that wet just short sharp afternoon downpours generally) - the animals can hide out in the bush and get their water wherever. Plus no malaria during dry season.
weather - likely to be around 25 even 30C during the day, but cold at night 1-2C - you will need warm clothes for the early morning/late night drives. I much prefer it to their summer when the Kruger gets seriously hot and humid.
Great scenery as the Kruger is basically in a valley betwen the escarpment at the end of the 1-2000m high veldt plateau to the east and the 2000m+ monutains on the SA/Mozambique border. 4 hours drive from Joburg or less than 1 hrs flight
Been lots of times to SA safari parks

The weather was dry in the masai and warm (sunbathing round the Pool in between safaris).
It was cold however in Nairobi due it being much higher. Not winter cold like here just needed a long sleeve top or at worst a light coat.
Go for it - you wont regret it. (Pity the rally isnt in the WRC anymore!)

too right
Doing the WRC and holiday I don't think my wife to be would be too happy.............still trying to convince her that only 2 weeks after we get back from honeymoon I can go and do the mega avalance race in france(largest downhill mountain bike race in the world).
Thanks for the input
