As above a local buisness man is selling his P1 with a genuine 300 miles. What is its true value? Going to have a yarn with him about it but its value is an issue. All advice appreciated.

P1 - No 0834 sold recently with 11,300 miles on the clock.
This was up for sale for £17.5k it went quickly but I dont know the final price, but would imagine it was pretty close to that figure.
The opinion of a lot of the P1 owners that had seen the car was that it was probably the best example around, in fact as good as if not better than new.
It had won the following awards:-.
2005 show and shine honours
Japfest 2nd in class, in best classic
SBO 1st in class,best classic
SBO Best in show,overall winner
Trax 1st in class,best classic
I would imagine the car you are looking at would be in similar condition?
Hope this is some use to you.

Arrghh! what at waste, they are for driving.
I was reading an old evo from 2001 the other day though after the bugeye had come out and it said that there were loads of brand new p1s just gathering dust unsold at forecourts around the country.

I agree they are for driving, but it wasnt what he asked.
There are some 51 plate P1s around but not massive amounts, perhaps 10/15% (this is a guesstimate).
I think it was because Subaru/Prodrive got greedy they originally were going to produce 500 P1s, but they took loads of deposits quickly. So then decided to produce a 1000.
As these cars were 30K plus, it doesnt surprise me they struggled to shift some of them
Reckon they learnt a lesson though as I believe the WR1 was limited to 500.

I have a P1 that I've had from new with substantially more miles on the clock - 42K. However, since having 2 kids in the last 2.5 years i've not done much mileage in it, in fact, I only did 2000 miles between MOT's last year.
The point is that these cars need to be driven as, for instance, the fibre seal on the back of my gearbox has dried out from lack of use and started weeping oil onto the exhaust. Not serious stuff, I know, but something to look out for and get sorted.
I've also heard that engines can get corroded or manky inside ( not technical me , I'm afraid) from sitting still not doing anything

It depends how much someone wants to pay. I think most people would prefer to buy one that they could run, something around £13-14K with a few miles. that's more like a collectors item. it should be in a museum.
