BBS in that sense means Bulletin Board System. Well the BB does, the S might mean something else. Comes from the days when bulletin boards were about all that there was online. In other words you'd hook up your BBC B to a modem / coupler setup which was actually like a phone (see the film Wargames to get the idea), dial into the Telecom Gold bulletin board and look at the messages. And maybe post some. Or talk about Dungeons and Dragons LOL
