Does anyone have contact details for a friendly dutch dealer? I am looking to order some dutch side rubbing strips which have the Subaru stars rather than impreza on them.

Before I get flamed the car lives in London and is getting too many parking dents. Also anyone know of a good London/Kent based Dent removal guy/girl that will accept cash (no VAT)?

Thanks in adavance

Contact Gertjan vd Velde ( - email address: gj_velde@wish.net, or phone him on 0031 186 661556). He's a great guy, and I'm sure he can help you.

I had the side strips fitted to my DBM 4dr, and IMO they look fine. And they'll give you some protection from the car park idiots!

Pete

Thanks for this - I appreciate it
My car is an RB5 so they should look OK. Can they be colour coded?

Any pictures of the strips fitted to your DBM?
I am suffering from "car-park pox" and would like to consider some protection!

Question

My car is 6 months old and already has 5 little dents on the doors even though I am VERY careful where I park it.

I am considering calling dentmasters to get rid of the dents but was wondering just how they get the dents out. Do they use those suction things or do they slide something down the back of the door to pop the dent out??

They use various implements to massage the dent out from the inside - they are very effective, I have had some major creases/pin dents removed in the past. I was 100% happy.
I used dent devils who are independent guys who are alot cheaper than dentmaster and seemed to take a lot of time & care. Unfortunately my contact moved out of the area so I am now looking for a reliable guy.

Julian,

So do they have to take any of the door trim off or can they slide their implements (!!) down between the glass and the door seal??

Depends exactly where the dents are but on doors they can normally get to most of them down the side of the glass without taking the trim off.

I had a dent removed by Dentmasters the other day, top job. I was quoted £90 per panel for a private job. A friend owns a tyre shop, he arranged for Dentmaster to do the work at his premises and I paid, it cost me £52 inc vat.
So find yourself a friendly garage and paid the trade price.

Hope that helps.

Fitted some myself recently, just sticky backed strips hold them on. Also discovered if you **** it up they peel off and restick OK with out any adverse effect on paint or the adhesive, even if fully pressed on.

With respect to colour coding - if the strips are to stop paint getting chipped off the doors then why paint the rubber. Secondly, if you want the subaru stars, these will be painted over as well.

I can't see the point of getting the strips colour-coded, as they will end up getting chipped as well.

If you use the Wax Wizard's Protector stuff on them (for vinyl and rubber, I think) then the finish is like a sort of matt shine, if that makes sense, and looks really good.

Point taken about the colour coding, mind you a chipped coded strip (oh er?) is better than dents. I was concerned about the black strips looking a bit ropey on Grey metallic.

Re dentmaster I had 2 dents removed by dent devils for £35 cash. I have 5 panels that need some work so a £50 price per dent may be a bit expensive!
