Default Its MOT time!!!

i have a my97 uk turbo lets say lightly modified so today took her for a mot. My almost 100k classic sailed through (ok emisions were very close)but garage were not soft on her at all. Just thought it was worth shouting about Anyone else sailed through or had a nightmare, would say emisions must catch alot on mot?? I SAILED THROUGH MY MOT there boastfull shouting over...

Most cars should sail through .... certainly un-modded ones.

Rust isn't an issue these days - emmissions are a dark area.

The rest is simple stuff you can check yourself.

I HATE the idea of them taking my car out for the brake test though - so I go with them (I usually drive anyway) .... they hate it!!

But, why should they rag my car up the road when I treat it well?????

i went through this 2 weeks ago. (95wrx)

i was pooing it before i took it. with the emmissions and all that. (decat centre). i was fine with the rest of the car. but they always find something dont they? infact the only thing that was wrong is that they had a hard time finding my car on there computer (import). so they asked me to find it for them. lol. it flu through no probs. infact the m.o.t man said youv got a very nice car there m8. so i paid him with a very big smile on my face and said thanks.

always taken mine to my local garage - they know the cars & family. Have done so for the last 15 years
I trust them with it - besides, if they bend it, they mend it

I agree about that last comment.
We took our first scoob to the subaru dealer and had a full service, we got a car from them for a few hours so went out somewhere, on the way back we past our car heading in the other direction, the lad was bombing down the road, but he obviously didn't reaslise it was us until he got back and seen the garages car parked up, put it this way he was looking at the ground, he said he had just taken the car down the road to see everything was ok after the service, we said we know we past you doing about 100mph, not much response after that from him.

We have ours on the 17th, fingers crossed it passes, no reason why it shouldn't, but always worry.

How do these "friendly" MOT places get around the emissions test if it fails then?? as it's all computerised now isn't it? Or do they just stick the tester up the exhaust of the car parked next to the "failing de-cated Scoob"?

Yep they just stick it up the exhaust of another car. will be difficult soon though as they are going to have to take photos.. but you can get round this too by loosening the center pipe to let some oxygen into the system.

Glad to see i'm not the only paranoid one out there. I hate taking my car to garages. The last visit saw scratches on my bumper, which were denied. I've had mud up the side of my Evo Intergrale (white) when that went it.

If i can help it i don't let mt car out my site. If i'm tootling along, warming it up etc etc, then some little yoot takes it for a thrash. Hmmm. not worth thinking about
