How long is a driving ban with 12+ points
I have 6 points on my license 3 for 83 on a 3 lane dual carriage way (A46 Coventry) and 55 in a 50 (A 44 Worcester to Kiddy road), not way over the speed limit but enough.
How long would a ban be, if I received another 6 points for being slightly over the speed limit.

A quick google suggests the automatic ban for reaching 12+ points for the first time is 6 months, although if you are in a situation where you claim extreme hardship (ie need your license to work) you may be able to get them to give you a hefty chunk of a fine instead

The rule is 10% + 3MPH ... so, you were doing AT LEAST 58MPH!

it is only a guidline so not law.

Any policeman who was genuinely interested in road safety would prefer people paying attention to the road rather than the speedo and allow a margin for error accordingly -usually in line with the guideines, but it may be more, it maybe less depending on the circumstances and the individuals concerned.

getting back on to the subject of this thread and how long are you banned for when you tot up 12 points.
I actually totted up 13 points about 8 years ago and nothing happenned. I didn't ask any questions as I didn't want to lose my licence, but I received it back from the court with 13 points in total. (2 x 5 points and 1 x 3 points). Just kept quiet about it and eventually they were all removed.

You ca actually be done for < the speed limit if conditions are such..! Admittedly not nec. speeding but dangerous/undue care etc...
I actually know someone who was done for 28mph (30 zone) as it was outside a school at 'home time'.
Remember the speed limit is exactly that, a MAX limit in ideal conditions..!

Although i agree you should slow down by schools, i would imagine that it would be VERY hard to secure a prosecution for this.
