Tow Bar

Tow Bar
I am looking to get a tow bar fitted to my 05MY WRX Wagon - anyone know the part numbers etc for a decent make and anywhere in the Southampton region that would do a good job at a reasonable price.
A few places I have tried wont fit to a wrx subaru - and one place said its not recomended -
I need to be able to tow a Caterham on something like a BJ or other fairly light weight trailer (1200 kG max) - has anyone had this sort of experience - wont be too often just for the odd trackday.

Witter
I have a Witter towbar on MY02 WRX saloon. Slight problem of interaction with exhaust mounts so had to double up on the rubbers oo-errr Otherwise quality bit of kit and not much more expensive than el cheapo non-branded make.
Be aware that there are 2 types, one is a swan neck where the ball can be removed well in front of the rear bumper so the towbar is not visible and makes the rear of the car look cleaner. I have the standard type because when you unbolt the ball you can attach a cycle carrier to the plate.

I have a std witter fixed tow bar on a MY03 WRX and had no trouble with exhaust (std twin pea shooter or the prodrive one).
I used a compnay called Towbex who are based between Worthing and Brighton, they also offer a mobile service, but I think this is limited to sussex.

I bought a 2nd hand towbar and subaru electrics for £35 off ebay. Fitted it myself, quite easy if you've got the instructions.
A word of warning - if you don't get the subaru electrics kit, £50 ish (i.e. - 1 block connector into the vehicle block connector), it means splicing all the wires which may cause electrical problems later.
Great cars for towing. I towed a caravan a few times. A bit embarrassing when fellow scoobiers drove past and shook their heads in disbelief. Fuel economy dropped to 15mpg !!
Regards,
Graeme.

I tow a caravan with my MY01 wagon.
Very stable and plenty of power.
Fuel economy only slightly down as I am light footed with it on.
I have a Witter removable swan neck.
Cost around £300 fitted with twin electrics.
