fuel gauge
how many miles could i expect to get from my car if the gauge is between empty and the quarter mark. (if driven sensibly). there is no low fuel warning light on the dash. (95 wrx import). as normal the wife's been driving it and not put any petrol in. but thats another story.

I've got a MY97 UK turbo. You can run that until the needle is pointing to the middle bar of the E, but I wuoldn't recommend it - it's not good for the nerves and you run the risk of hoovering out any sludge at the bottom of the tank.

my nearest optimax station is about 10 miles away. i don't no if i will make it. and the needle goes down very quickly when below the quarter mark.
i normaly get to the quarter mark then fill her up with a little help from millers.

There's NOTHING in the bottom of the tank that you need worry about!
SLUDGE - heard it all now!!
Pete
OH yes, the answer you are looking for is 65.75miles ... with needle between 1/4 and E

You can give the wife permission to drive it 10miles to the Optimax station and fill it up. Just remember to go through the pump colour coding
Red handle = good
Green handle = Not so good, but no divorce
Black/Blue handle = very bad, pack ur bags

Was out in my scoob today and fuel gauge was on the 1/4 mark. I had to fill up later that day and didn't think I'd gone that far. Checked the miles and I'd done 40 miles so I'd say my initial estimate wasn't far away. Also the fuel warning light hadn't come on either so could had squeezed another 15-20miles out of it but don't like to push it that far.

Well, no, indeed, terrible things can happen if you allow the fuel light to come on ... the bulb heats the air and that gets taken into the Intercooler causing the well known Heatsoak ... your pistons then melt!

Pete, I've had the fuel light on a few times before and to be honest I know it's ok to run the tank low and all will be ok. But on the Wirral there are not that many garages I trust for good fuel and prefer to use Optimax, thats all Only the best is good enough for the best Scoob ever made

ive gotton 65miles from 1/4 to the middle bit of the E, light came on much before tho, but if you speed up the light goes off! so must be a fair bit left in the tank. i try to use the 1/4 as my min most of the time.
