Default my03 wrx turbo 300plus?

I know there are lots of these threads but I have done loads of searching and can't quite find the answers.

I am after a straight swap turbo to improve on my 280/280 on an my03wrx.

Have seen a vf34, vf35 and a vf28 for sale. What are the differences and which would suit me best. I am looking at going as much into the 300 club as I can but also spool is a consideration. Assume all supporting mods and map.

Do you have uprated injectors (can't remember if the 03 had 380s or 440s- you'd need the latter) and a fuel pump? You want to make sure your fueling can keep up with the Turbo. Also a 3 port boost solenoid would prob be a good idea for finer boost control with the new turbo.

Andy F does a hybrid TD04 that -by all accounts- provides superior torque to the VF34, but has the TD04's low spool up point. Might be worth considering.

Much of a muchness between the three unless but VF35s are easier to source and offer an easy 320/330 goal.
Do you have a target in mind?
I've had a VF35 fitted and notice no increased lag, in fact the excellent remap and boost control offers better spool up than the TD04 did and better fuel consumption is a bonus.

Yeah! but I'm not sure it is attainable. Aiming for 350/350 but anything above 320 will do.

Toss the VF and buy a Mitsu TD05 super16g, APS Garret GT based SR30 or SR40.

My APS S/R30 makes more HP and Torque than the stock TD04 across the REV range.

How do td05 compare to these?

I've seen a td05h but don't know what exactly it is i.e. 16/18/20 etc.

It is from a 96 sti ra. Are there any numbers i should be looking for?

96... I am not sure but do you still have the 90deg inlet? If so just scroll down (on the link provided) till you see the 90deg 16g. I'd go for the ZILLA TD05H super 16g

BTW Andy F. sells Deadbolt's turbos here in the UK.

The one I have seen didn't have a 90 inlet. Don't know much about older jap scoobs I'm afraid so wasn't sure if his claims were right. Think I better avoid that one. Was very cheap on ebay...

Think I better have a chat with andy then...

most td05's are 90 degree inlets so wouldnt fit the later cars....but many have been converted to front entry, and this will then fit your car

Big numbers. Budget for a stronger gearbox @ £1500-3000.

I know about the gearbox!!

Ill risk it and when it goes ill upgrade. Just seen a cheap vf28. Does it spool quicker but with less power than the vf34/35?
It is half the price of a vf34. Will I regret not getting a 34/35?

Also managed to secure an sti tmic and scoop.

Seems that they are all within 10% of each other then. Ill have a proper read when i get home.

Will a vf28 go straight onto an my03 or will there be pipework differences?
